Oof. My wife had almost this exact same situation happen to her a few years back... she opted to find another job. Last year she got back in with the company in a higher ranking position in a different department, so it worked out in the end. Absolutely sucked at the time though.

This is 100% what my wife's ex boss was like; she bounced from department to department destroying everything she touched, but she could suck up like none other so everyone senior to her loved her... right up until she'd been in their department for about 3 months, at which point they started plotting how they could foist her off on someone else before she could do too much damage.
