Hello, yes! Is being very good day for posting, no?
Eat tensed as Cat Cora's blessing was bestowed upon him, gritting his teeth as pure culinary energy coursed through his bulging veins. His skin grew paler and paler still, and thin black threads wormed across his now stony, marble-like surface. And then, almost as suddenly as it began, it faded away, leaving Eat appearing much the same as he always had, although there was a certain level of volume to his steps that hadn't quite been there before.

"Thank you, councilor. I am honored to be judged worthy. I promise I will not disappoint."

He watched, expression dispassionate, as Mari was overcome by her darker ego--if that's what 'Scari' was--but his massive hands were balled into fists at his sides, that marble texture returning to them. Finally, he took a deep breath, determination in his eyes. He had a job to do. He stomped into the Grocery Plane and returned, as always, with a bounty of items. A few he handed off to Martha, and a bundle of rhubarb he passed to Mario, before finally returning to his workstation.

"This NEXT DISH is in HONOR of COUNCILOR CAT CORA, who has SEEN FIT to grant me with her BLESSING. While an EASY OPTION here would be to serve something with a STRONG MEDITERRANEAN INFLUENCE, I believe that it is VITAL that I stay TRUE to my PERSONAL STYLE. I will, however, attempt to capture a SIMILAR FLAVOR PROFILE!

We will be STARTING... with SALMON! Salmon is the BEAR of the AQUATIC WORLD, at least in terms of FLAVOR. In terms of ACTUAL BEHAVIOR, it's probably SHARKS or possibly ORCAS. But right now that is BESIDE THE POINT, which is that salmon meat has a HIGH FAT CONTENT which gives it a surprisingly RICH flavor, while not sacrificing the FRESHNESS that's INHERENT to SEAFOOD! It also has a LIGHT, FLAKY TEXTURE, which we'll bring out with a good PAN SEAR.

We'll be SERVING the salmon on top of a bed of WILD RICE. While this is something of a MINNESOTA REGIONAL SPECIALTY--I grew up eating it--it grows elsewhere in NORTH AMERICA, and there's a species of wild rice native to ASIA as well! While it is SUPERFICIALLY SIMILAR to ORDINARY RICE, it is typically served WITH ITS SHELL STILL ON, and has a STRONG EARTHY FLAVOR--it makes for a WONDERFUL SOUP. Today, we'll be STEAMING the wild rice, although boiling ALSO WORKS. Steaming really MAXIMIZES that LIGHT FLUFFY TEXTURE, which is IMPORTANT for when it's not a more INTEGRATED part of a dish!

Now, while this is PLENTY MOIST, the RICHNESS of the salmon and the wild rice needs a bit of CONTRAST, so that it doesn't SIT ON THE TONGUE. To THAT END, I'll be preparing a SAUCE--it uses a CREAM BASE, made from FLOUR and HALF AND HALF, and is flavored with GARLIC, to SUPPORT the dish's HERBINESS, and LEMON, to provide BITE. We'll be using both LEMON JUICE and LEMON ZEST in the recipe. We'll apply this sauce LIGHTLY--we don't want it to OVERPOWER the rest of the dish!

Now, while I've been EXPLAINING THIS TO YOU, I've also been INCREDIBLY FORTUNATE to have some ASSISTANCE for this round--I am quite lucky to be familiar with GIADA DE LAURENTIIS, who has GENEROUSLY been assembling the SIDE SALAD for this dish--it QUITE PROMINENTLY features CITRUS NOTES--namely ORANGE, with POMEGRANATE for a bit of SWEETNESS while still remaining PLEASANTLY TART. It is an EXCELLENT ACCOMPANIMENT for the MAIN COURSE, which, as Cat Cora has pointed out, is CRITICALLY IMPORTANT for a SUCCESSFUL MEAL. THANK YOU, GIADA, and THANK YOU, JUDGES! I HOPE YOU ENJOY IT!

Boyardima enters. He looks... different - and it's not just his new chef's coat.

The once-nondescript chef carefully sorts through his purchases without a single word to anyone else, but observers can feel the tightly-wound tension within him, like a spring waiting to uncoil at the lightest touch. Pulling his all-but-trademarked cooler out from beneath his cooking station, he considers it for a few heartbeats... before tearing it asunder with his bare hands. Carefully gathering the ingredients once held within, he organizes some at his station and places others upon a tray - heat-treated, of course - to be set aside for later. Nothing is held back, at this critical stage.

Purchased (includes 8G from stock)
Pork Tenderloin (12G)
Hatch Chile [Habanero Pepper] (6G)
Raisins (4G)
Good Mushrooms (6G)
Habanero Pepper (6G)
Good Mushrooms (6G)
Wasabi (8G)
Duck Liver (10G)

Pulled from Stock
Pumpkin
Salmon
Fresh Bread
Shallot

Narrowing his eyes at the spread of ingredients, he begins cooking. The Hatch Chiles are sliced in half and placed in a smoker, to be set aside for (time-compressed) hours. Similarly, a varied assortment of Good Mushrooms are set up to pickle in brine, chili, and peppercorn. Pork Tenderloin is diced into tasteful chunks and seared off in a screaming-hot cast iron pan - which he holds barehanded, careful observers will notice. In the same pan - taking full advantage of the built-up fond - sliced Shallots are carefully caramelized to a perfect turn. Boyardima pauses for a moment to nod to Bobby Flay, as he lays out carefully-selected Raisins on a baking sheet. In the oven they go, cooking low and slow to bring out the full spectrum of flavor. Once all the ingredients have been individually prepared, Boyardima takes a deep breath to center himself - flames crackling around his stony face.

Now it all comes together. Seared pork, smoked chiles, savory shallots, sweet raisins - all together in a cast iron pot, left to simmer for hours on end in the oven. While it cooks away, Boyardima takes up his tray of delectables and presents it to Martha Stewart for her inspection. He meets her eye, and nods in satisfaction. Her delicate touch - a constant ally throughout this pitched battle (a war, in reality) will be exactly what he needs to press onward.

Given to Martha for Blessing
Pumpkin
Salmon
Habanero Pepper
Good Mushrooms
Wasabi

Similarly, a freshly-purchased ingredient is presented to Mario Batali for his perusal. Boyardima's seething gaze meets the celebrated chef's eyes as he hands over the bloody container, and none can say who looked away first.

Presented to Mario for Inspection
Duck Liver

Necessary side tasks complete, Boyardima returns to his ingredients. The mushrooms are prepped for a tangy side, and the Fresh Bread is sliced and placed under the salamander to crisp up. The bubbling pork comes out of the oven, filling the whole kitchen with its rich scent. Slicing the bread into tasty sandwich-sized portions, Boyardima scoops a healthy helping of roast pork onto each one - preparing what is nothing other than a gorgeous meal, backed by the tangy flavor of the mushrooms that accompany it. An unique spin on Southwestern cuisine - perfectly in line with his patron's trademark style of cooking.

Carne Adovada Sliders with Pickled Mushrooms
Pork Tenderloin - Pan Fry - *Star Ingredient*
Hatch Chile (Habanero Pepper) - Smoke
Shallot - Pan Fry
Raisin - Bake
Fresh Bread - Salamander
Good Mushrooms - Preserve

But that's not all. Boyardima walks (stomps?) over to Liquid Caramelization's station, catching the chef's eye as they put the final touches on their own submission.

Between the challenges and the godlike powers of all chefs involved, there was still enough time for a 30 minute special about “Hot and Cold” themed cuisines. Doc Gibbs got multiple sets ready, Bobby Flay and Morimoto were brought in, the Essence pulled all the stops to make sure this show would go down in history.

Morimoto made a cold smoker out of some sheet ice brought in - with some help, Bobby Flay prepped some flame-broiled chiles and a sweet spicy sauce. The three of them - well four if you included the translator - exchanged witty banter, drinks, and numbers as they made a smoked fish dish with the peppers and sauce. It got so hot that they had to empty four bottles of Bacardi to dull the heat. Morimoto… didn’t respond to the heat so well and after a couple of seconds bolted to the nearest restroom. His translator said that he needed to get something to drink before he tried to say something else.

Then Bobby Flay - ever a charmer and eager to pitch in - went back to see if Morimoto was alright. As it turned out, the heat was just too much for him. Everybody was worried that the challenge was going to be nixed. But Bobby Flay had a brilliant idea: he’d take Morimoto’s place as judge. The other judges were worried that these shows would need to stop as they were causing problems with making the challenge work, but Flay convinced them that it was all fine and the shows made for good publicity anyway.

One final set from Doc Gibbs played as credits flew, and finally people were back at the challenge, though very afraid of the leftovers that were starting to catch fire...

*_*_*_*_*_*

tldr: The Essence swapped Masaharu Morimoto with Bobby Flay as judge for this challenge.

I find that the whole season to be unpolished, but having a solid core. But what really carried this show were the contestants. I’m not sure we’re going to get an all star cast like the ones present here. If this ever gets a new season a whole lotta changes need to be made so it’s more hot and less mess. Yes to roles, but tweak things so they don’t just become set dressing or a glorified mafia game.

Also need more variety in challenges.

Another Anonymous Idiot posted:

I wanna go cook the dishes they made at home! A lot of those taste really good, and OH MY GOD WHY IS GUY FIERI A VAMPIRE???

Some Random Nerd posted:

This is Food Porn, the game. Even if we can’t see any of the dishes. My thoughts echo the previous comments, great setting, vibrant cast. Needs fine tuning, and maybe some substance to really make this a five-star FRG. Will it be picked up for season 2? I don’t know. But if the best possible outcome is reached, where will this go?

This might be a one-shot thing. Not unless something drastic happens… Though considering the setting, anything’s possible.

Chef Boyardima

Bobby Flay posted:

Smoking the habanero was a genius move. The heat wasn’t lost and you took on new flavor for your sliders. Couldn’t be more proud of this dish.

Wolfgang Puck posted:

Let’s talk about the sear in your pork. It’s near perfect and complements your other ingredients in your dish. I don’t share Bobby’s enthusiasm, but this is a fine dish.

Rachael Ray posted:

Every ingredient, from the pickled mushrooms to the smoked habanero, makes this a complete dish. Across the board. I gotta say it’s going to be hard to choose a winner.

EAT PUNCHBEEF

Wolfgang Puck posted:

A good salad. Fresh ingredients, sharp tart flavors. best part of your dish. Hands down.

Rachael Ray posted:

Well, your salad complements your filet. Your steamed wild rice goes really well with it.

Bobby Flay posted:

Puck likes your salad, Rachael likes your rice, but nothing at all to say about the filet itself? Or the sauce? You hit those right out of the park. Easily the star of your dish and you really made it shine.

Liquid Carmelization

Rachael Ray posted:

I like the ice cream, but it seems a tad mild. But your candied rhubarb really elevated your dish. It’s so good, that I’m kinda surprised you didn’t make that the star of your dish.

Wolfgang Puck posted:

Can we talk about your sugar cane? With what you did to it, it could’ve paired well with some wild game. You don’t taste any sweetness and instead get every other flavor; bitter, herby. Doesn’t work well with your dessert. But I will steal your idea.

Bobby Flay posted:

It’s a fine dessert, nice and simple, but it could’ve been a lot better.

Scarinade2Win

Wolfgang Puck posted:

Why’d you put the fried blue cheese and kale in this? You could’ve done without it, especially with your prime rib cooked to perfection. They were the only strange things in your dish.

Bobby Flay posted:

Same here with your rib. You cooked it really well, but what stood out were your sous vide potatoes. Flavorful, creamy texture, just exceptional.

Rachael Ray. posted:

Can I take the time to point out how underappreciated those blueberries are in this dish? Nice and tart, and complements your other parts. Adds a nice freshness to the meal.

Spicer 425 *

Rachael Ray posted:

Your pickled eggplant stood out in your dish, but the same cannot be said for your other veggies. They just couldn’t keep their texture and individual flavor.

Bobby Flay posted:

I love your chicken, but the breading really elevated this dish. It wouldn’t have been that great without it. Your rice though, I think is a bit plain.

Wolfgang Puck posted:

The rice is fine Bobby, but boiling it just leaves it to work as a texture to mis with the chicken.and pickles. Could it be better? Certainly. This dish had the potential to be much better.

Boyardima gains Mastery.
Liquid Carmelization loses Mastery.

Liquid Carmelization is dismissed from kitchen stadium in a corona of light. From the judges table Alton Brown grimaces but, in the spectacle of light, it goes largely unnoticed.

The spectors return to the center of the kitchen straightening their ties in unison.

"Honored Chefs, There Are Only Two Rounds Left To The Competition. You All Stand On The Precipice, The Final Steps Of The Winding Staircase To Culinary Greatness. Take Pride In Your Acheivement, And Let Your Pride Shine Through In Your Cuisine. For the Last Steps, Can Be The Hardest."

A terrible fizz and squeal shattered the peace of Kitchen Stadium. From the far corner of the room the spinning void of the Grocery Between Worlds spun its last rotation, collapsing on itself like a dying star. The spectors hung their heads, politely.

"Chefs, We Ask You Once Again To Cook Using Only The Ingredients You Have Brought With You From Previous Rounds. However, The Judges Have Kindly Selected Four Ingredients To Supplement Your Cuisine."

"This Round You May Freely Choose Any Two Ingredients. Your Selections Are:"

Oysters
Truffles
Lengua
Goose

Inexplicably, steam rises from the table as the cover is removed. Three chefs stand from the Judges Table. Cat Cora with a decisive stare, Martha Stewart with a motherly grin, and Alton Brown with a grimly furrowed brow. Wolfgang Puck and Bobby Flay descend to the kitchen floor.

"Think Back To The First Round Of The Tournament. We Asked You All To Prepare A Meal That Showed Your Culinary Journey. Your Culinary Journey Is Soon To Reach It's Final Chapter. Please Cook Us A Dish That Tells the Story Of How You've Changed, What You Have Become, How Your Final Chapter Will Be Remembered. Cook Us A Dish That Shows The Future You Have Fought To Create. Let Us See How You Will Change The Culinary World.

From the judges table, Guy Fieri sweats through his flame embroidered Hawaiian shirt.

He seems ... twitchy. He looks ... uncomfortable. He's ... rumbling. In a most concerning way.

Most Honored Judges, you ask us to create a culinary concoction that embodies the journey we have each undertaken to reach this point, a testament to what we have accomplished and what we hope to accomplish yet. What summarizes my time in this Stadium?

Perserverence

I know I may not be the strongest chef in this competition *looks at Boyardima*, indeed surviving the chopping block more than perhaps healthy for any individual. For all that I wish I could survive purely on my culinary skills, my continued presence here is as much a product of circumstance as it is talent. But is it any different in the real world? History is full of stories of talented chefs, cast down and broken due to circumstances beyond their control. What sometimes matters just as much is being able to identify and seize opportunity as it appears - I hope at the very least, that I have done. But what has this perseverance been in pursuit of? What future do I wish to create?

One where all culinary traditions can thrive and be passed down.

The Future I come from is bleak - cuisine is strictly regulated by the Azami Zaibatsu, whose schools ensure that only the approved recipes are learned and whose enforcers ensure that only the approved recipes are prepared. Much was lost in the Night of the Kitchen Knives, the great purge that saw so many masters of the culinary arts lost with their generations of passed down knowledge. Not all fell prey, thankfully, including the predecessors of my own Order. For a time, our mission seemed archival - to protect what fragments we had left in the hope that one day we would be able to reconstruct what was lost.

The Machine changed that.

Now able to scour the untold ages of humanity for long-lost techniques and traditions, the knowledge of our Order grew at an unimaginable pace. But it was not enough - though we may have restored the knowledge of the Ancients, it was only a partial victory, so long as Azami and his goons enjoyed their position at the top of the CulCorp hierarchy - a position entirely unassailable.

That is, in my "present."

Our greatest minds, our wisest elders bent their mind to the challenge - how to bring down the feared culinary oppressors before their rot could even take root. In one dusty, crumbling tome, the answer was finally found - a grand Culinary Competition, a meeting of forces edible and magical from which a dark victor emerged. This victor would lead the world down a path most terrible, a path that resulted in the terrible future from whence I hail. The decision was made - send a champion back to either seize victory for himself, or to ensure that the eventual victor was not a tool of evil. The rest, well, we've all been here for it.

With a rueful grin, he comes to a close.

But I suppose I'm not here from what I can bring out of my mouth, but what I can put into yours. I'll get to it then. I should thank my fallen culinary comrade for this dish that will thus embody one of my credos - the elements of cuisine are always strongest when shared with others.

Vegetable Surprise!

Pumpkin - Grilled
Onion - Baked
Bell Pepper- Baked

Stored
Celery
Blessed Tenderloin
Truffle
Lengua
Hot Pepper (per Jalapeno)
Okra

Scari cackles upon hearing the theme of the challenge.

 : How have I changed since the beginning of this competition?
 : Let's be real here. Mari was an ambition-less waste of a body, who was content to spend her days frolicking in the woods instead of trying to make something of herself. She kept saying that she was "here to make friends", and look what that got her. Thankfully, I'm here to save the day.
 : Let's all go... to Flavortown.*

She holds her pitchfork up and draws a rectangle in the air with it. Once finished, she snaps her fingers, and the rectangle turns into a magical screen, through which the other chefs and judges can see what appears to be a small cluster of buildings in the woods.

 : OK OK OK, I haven't actually made this yet. It's just a proof of concept.
 : But check it out! When I took over Mari's body/soul, I gained access to all of her memories. Neat, huh? As it turns out, Mari's hometown is full of a lot of fairies just like her - nice, and considerate, and completely unable to comprehend the idea that they might one day need to defend themselves from "bad people". And now I know how to find it.

She takes a moment to cackle for the camera.

 : My plan is to annex Fairyfield in the name of Guy Fieri, and to declare it an extension of Flavortown.
 : It'll be great, we'll get rid of all of those stupid trees and homes and replace them with restaurants, where wealthy patrons from all over the world can go to taste real-life fairy cuisine. And also some hot dogs and junk for regular people - I dunno, who cares about them, really? And here's the best part - I feel confident that we'll be able to put the fairies there to work. They'll help us gather, cook, and serve the food to our guests. They'll be willing to work for peanuts!

She rubs her hands together as dollar signs appear in her now blood-red eyes.

 (under her breath): "...because we're going to confiscate all their food and only feed them if they comply."

She turns to face the judges.

 : Today's dish will be a sampling of things that you'll be able to try at our premiere restaurant, T.G.I.Fairies. Thankfully, you've provided some perfect ingredients for us to base our menu on. Like truffles! These are all over the woods around :airquote:Fairyfield:airquote:.
 (under her breath): "...we should blackmail the fairies into harvesting them exclusively for us, gotta make sure I remember that."

code:
(this challenge)
- Truffles (from ingredients list)
- Goose (from ingredients list)
- Blessed Noodles (from pantry)
- Blessed Tomato (from pantry)
- Blessed Garlic (from pantry)

(in reserve)
- Whole Rabbit
Scari takes her ingredients back to her station and gets to work.

1. She fills a pot with water. She shrinks down her pitchfork, places it into the pan, and snaps her fingers. The pitchfork turns orange and the water slowly starts to boil. She adds the noodles to the pan.

2. She takes out Mari's knife and gets to work on the truffles, cutting one into shavings and grating another into a fine dust. She similarly dices up the garlic. She slices small slits into the skin of the goose, inserting some of the truffle shavings into them. Finally, she sprinkles a healthy amount of salt and pepper over the goose.

3. She snaps her finger. Her shrunken pitchfork floats out of the pan of water and spears the goose. The goose'd pitchfork floats into the previously-unused oven at her workstation, and starts slowly rotating so that the heat is distributed evenly throughout.

4. She adds olive oil and garlic to a pan, and puts it on top of her stove on low heat so that it's warm but not boiling. She then adds the grated truffle dust to the oil, stirring it and adding a pinch of salt to create a sauce. Once it's ready, she adds the noodles to the pans and snaps her fingers to keep them tossed in the truffle oil.

5. She takes her tomatoes and goes to town with Mari's knife, dicing them into small pieces. She takes the diced tomatoes and adds them to a pitcher, making sure to tightly close the lid. She snaps her fingers and they are puree'd into liquid. She adds ice cubes, worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, a tiny amount of pickle juice, salt, and pepper [kitchen staples] to the tomato juice. She finds a bottle of tequila and adds a liberal amount to it.

 : One last special ingredient. You guys are going to love it. It's good luck.

6. She takes the pitcher in one hand and Mari's knife in the other and turns away from the camera. When she turns back around, there is a small cut on her cheek. No way, she didn't... did she? She puts a lid back on the pitcher and snap-blends the mixture one last time. The pitcher floats over to some cocktail glasses rimmed with salt and pours its contents into them.

7. She removes the goose from the oven and adds some to each plate. She then adds noodles to each plate, adding the rest of the truffle shavings to it. She puts each plate on a tray, along with one of the cocktail glasses.

Hello, yes! Is being very good day for posting, no?
As the next challenge is declared, Eat stands with his arms crossed and eyes closed, nodding silently to himself. After the announcements were finished, he took a deep breath, and walked over to the platform where the portal to the grocery had once stood. As he had once before, he thrust his hands forward into empty air, his skin taking on its stony appearance once again as he began to tear open a portal that had not only closed, but led to a plane that, by all accounts, had already faded from reality. An impossible task--but the blue sparks that were soon shooting from the air around his hands told a different story. It was not long before he slipped through the rift and returned, prize in hand. He nodded thanks to Cat Cora--he would not have had the strength to do this had he not been blessed--and proceeded to his work station.

"When I first came to this competition, I was already WELL-VERSED in the merits and methods of STRONG CUISINE. I KNEW my ingredients. I could SEE their POTENTIAL! I knew how to DRAW IT OUT, how to reach DIZZYING HEIGHTS OF FLAVOR--with, I will admit, some EXECUTION ERRORS. But once those were IRONED OUT, I thought my cooking would be INVINCIBLE!"

"And I was WROOOOOOOOOOOONG!!!"

"While my SKILL was real, my THINKING had a CRITICAL FLAW--I was too FOCUSED on SINGLE FLAVORS! I had thought that ULTIMATE STRENGTH was a flavor at its MAXIMUM POWER. But what I've LEARNED is that TRUE STRENGTH is POWERFUL FLAVORS SUPPORTING EACH OTHER! SWEET! SOUR! SALTY! SPICY! Just like how we have STRENGTHENED OURSELVES through FRIENDLY COMPETITION--" Eat directs a nod towards Boyardima and Spicer "SO TOO DO FLAVORS INTERACT! Even if I do not win today, my cooking has seen INCREDIBLE PROGRESS thanks to this lesson! And without FURTHER ADO, LET US BEGIN!"

"FIRSTLY, we will BREAK DOWN THIS GOOSE! While EVERY PART OF THE GOOSE is DELICIOUS, it is FAR TOO MUCH MEAT for a single dish! Today, we'll be using the BREASTS! You see, where SALMON is the BEAR OF THE AQUATIC WORLD, the GOOSE is the BEAR OF THE SKIES! STRICTLY in terms of FLAVOR, I mean. That is to say, it has A LOT OF EXTREMELY HIGH-QUALITY FAT. So much so that what is normally a FAIRLY DRY cut on LESSER BIRDS is still INTENSELY MOIST on a goose! So much so that it's ACTUALLY KIND OF A PROBLEM. We'll need to SIPHON SOME OF IT OFF. We'll give these breasts a GOOD RINSE, and SET THEM ASIDE.

"NEXT, we'll take our ORANGE--and THANK YOU, MARTHA, for the BLESSING--and we'll JUICE and ZEST it. To this, we'll add MINCED GARLIC, as well as BROWN SUGAR, SOY SAUCE, and a DASH OF LEMON JUICE. We'll use this GLAZE to COAT THE GOOSE, and put it in the oven to ROAST. We'll have to be MINDFUL to BASTE IT a couple of times while it's cooking."

"And now, the SIDE! While we've added CITRUS to the goose, it is still PREDOMINANTLY A VERY RICH DISH. We'll be complementing it with something a bit FRESHER--a BEET RISOTTO. First, we'll be SHREDDING these beets!" Eat lifts a pair of beets in his hands, and after a moment of examination, slams them together. They explode into inexplicably perfect shreds. "Now, we'll be PAN FRYING these, along with some ONION. Next, as with ANY RISOTTO, we add the RICE, and moisten it with CHICKEN STOCK. We'll KEEP ADDING STOCK until the rice is PERFECTLY COOKED, and then we'll add GRATED PECORINO CHEESE, to REALLY GET THAT FLAVOR GOING. Now, we'll GARNISH that with some SLICED BEET and some POPPY SEEDS, and we'll add a slice of WARM, FRESHLY BAKED BREAD, because you can NEVER GO WRONG with FRESH BREAD, and our DISH IS COMPLETE. PLEASE ENJOY, JUDGES!

CHRONAL ANOMALY DETECTED

"Or at least, that's what I WOULD HAVE DONE, and WILL LIKELY DO in the NEAR FUTURE. Instead, I'm just going to take this RHUBARB, which Judge Batali apparently found INSUFFICIENTLY FLAVORFUL, and I'm going to bake a good PIE out of it. Top with CINNAMON SUGAR, and it's a TANGY TREAT we can ALL ENJOY while we wait for SPICER to UNFUCK TIME.

As soon as Spicer finishes presenting his dish to the judges, he turns to return to his station.

Danger!

Disaster!

Doom?

A puddle of water, no doubt left by villainous scum, sends him flat on his face. Thankfully he has something to break his fall - the ChronoAccelerator. Tendrils of lightning fill the room, seizing the judges and Spicer himself in their grasp.

As the blinding light reaches a crescendo, it overwhelms the assembled culinary icons - until it disappears almost as suddenly as it came.

In its wake?

A conspicuous absence of judges, and Spicer, exuding an aura of pure...simplicity?

"I uh, do not know what happened, but I'm sure the judges will return....eventually?"

##Activating Morimoto blessing, Dispelling all 3 judges

He then shuffles off, sheepishly giving Boyardima his jalapeno.

While there are no purchases to sort through today, Boyardima instead takes his time reviewing the gleaming ingredients Martha dropped off at his station on her way to the judges' table, along with what he's selected from the table of ingredients in play for this round's challenge. Every item is carefully evaluated, planning for the incredible meal he is sure to produce - after all, this round is the one where he will crush Scari and move on to the finals.

Obtained
Truffle (FREE)
Goose (FREE) - STOCKED

Pulled from Stock
Blessed Salmon
Blessed Pumpkin
Duck Liver

Setting to his work, Boyardima's flames ignited from head to toe as his gaze grew intense with the thrill of cooking!

Taking the Truffles and slicing them thinly, he tossed them into the deep fryer for a few moments before setting them aside to drain - while thinking fondly of a bold chef who had dared to submit exactly that as their shockingly simple dish when faced with Morimoto's stern judgment...

From there, he cleaned and filleted the Salmon before placing it carefully in the oven, thinking back to the first dish he had submitted - a simple fish taco. Who could have expected the chef clumsily throwing together a dish that day would have come this far?

Moving on, he took several Pumpkins in hand. Moving quickly to avoid his flames singing their tough surfaces, he cleaned and diced each one in turn. Dusting them with spices and scattering them on a baking sheet, Boyardima placed the hardy gourd's remains in the oven beneath the salmon.

And last but not least - a new, untested ingredient. The humble duck liver... carefully cleaned and placed into a screaming-hot skillet (seared by both the stove and Boyardima's own flames) for a few rapid heartbeats, just enough time to leave the outsides deliciously crispy and the interiors delicately pink.

Assembling his final dish, Boyardima glowered at the final result while correcting the last few minor details. (Surprising no one, Bobby's serious attitude in the kitchen was passed on to his protege.) Surely, this would be the pinnacle of his culinary journey - one dish, summarizing everything that had come before while allowing the judges to see the bold future that lay before him!

But then Spicer tripped and fell, and all of Boyardima's hard work unwound in his wake.

Nodding in appreciation to Spicer for making amends, Boyardima focused on the Jalapeno Spicer had passed him on their way out. Yes, despite what they had just done... the judges still deserved a dish, even if they would be a bit late to the table. Breading and cooking the spicy pepper over the flames that burst forth from his arm, he diced the results up into a rough salsa of sorts and submitted it with some tortilla chips. He was a bit peckish, after all - even if there were no judges to enjoy it along with him.

Fire-Roasted (Time-Compressed) Jalapeno Salsa
Jalapeno Pepper - Deep Fry - *Star Ingredient*

(All other aforementioned ingredients were CLEARLY never cooked, and are placed in the stockpile.)

As the time ticks away to the end, the whole of Kitchen Stadium is in an uproar from the actions of almost every chef. For once nobody seemed to notice Bobby Flay working away at his dish. It seemed he had nothing to say, but from the cocky grin he wore, he was ready to let his dish do the talking for him.

Lengua - beef tongue. Nobody except those south of the border would dare touch such a dish. Which was a shame since it’s one of the softest cuts of meet that one could ever taste. And Bobby had the way to make it shine. A little habanero here, some tomatoes to stew there. Some bay leaf to give it some savory taste, and put it in a corn tortilla bun. It was all so easy.

Of course it would involve the infamous slow-cooker. And Bobby’s smirk was replaced with a a scowl. Bobby made sure to mise everything else for his lengua tacos, but the tongue was just never done. It always needed just one more hour every time. It didn’t even seem to matter that the shenanigans of every other chef made the challenge difficult. HE was going to finish this dish.

Then Guy - of all people - took Bobby by the shoulder away from his table. He still looked like he was going to vomit, but for whatever reason Guy though Bobby was in worse shape.

“Bobby.” He said. “Just - Just come sit down.”

But Bobby wasn’t done yet.

“This challenge ain’t over!” Guy’s grip grew firmer, and he took off his sunglasses to look Bobby in the eye. They glew with orange flame.

“Look Bobby, We got our councillors trapped in the future. I hate to say this, but this challenge is a bust. Besides, you’re trying to make a dish with tongue! Come sit down!”

“... Fine.”

One by one the other councillors took to their seats, waiting for the challenge to end. Bobby was staring daggers at Spicer and Morimoto the whole time.
