Kinda. You're probably thinking of books like Switch Bitch and My Uncle Oswald. Whether you consider them porn depends on where you draw the line between "porn" and "dumb sex comedy"; either way, they're fairly Neanderthal in their treatment of women.

Orson Scott Card was, like many rich white previously-Democrat voting men, driven batshit crazy by Obama being elected and went so far as to write this:

He was quietly a piece of poo poo before that, though, who argued in favor of keeping laws against homosexuality on the books in order to, in his own words, "send a clear message that those who flagrantly violate society's regulation of sexual behavior cannot be permitted to remain as acceptable, equal citizens within that society". Like most faithful Mormons, he takes the cowardly route and hides behind rhetoric about how he does not want to ostracize people, just their way of life, rather than own the abhorrent nature of his prejudices. "In my own view, I am walking a middle way, which condemns the sin but loves the sinner."

Edit: I almost forgot, he also went on to write Hamlet's Father, where he re-imagines the King as a homosexual pedophile.

Im glad he prefaced this with being a sf fantasy writer so I didn't have to bother reading any of it

Two of my otherwise-favourite authors had some very noticeable anti-Semitism going on, even for their era:

Dostoevsky, who thought it was really important to include an unsympathetic comedy bit with a Jewish night-watchman right at the climax of Crime & Punishment.

GK Chesterton, who created a whole plot point in The Man Who Was Thursday where a decadent, cruel, generically-swarthy villain who 'might be a Jew' is happily revealed to be a wholesome blonde English hero just wearing a mask.

I mean, Jesus, kid, at least date a motherfucker with abortion money and house to have sex at where your mother and I don't have to hear it. Also, if he treats her poorly, boom, that asshole's gonna catch a statch charge.

I don't think it's fair to take a negative aspect of an individual and extrapolate that because they had a bad viewpoint, or huge character flaws, that they are intrinsically a bad person.

Philip K. Dick was a sexist speedfreak. Raymond Carver and Hemingway were drunks. Bukowski was a drunk wife-beater. Harlan Ellison was an arrogant and juvenile prick. Lovecraft and Tolkien were racist. But are they, taken as a whole individual, bad people?

Even if a writer is a horrible person, by my estimation, that doesn't discredit the positive aspects of their being, or their work.

I mean, William Burroughs was an intensely evil person in my estimation. A thieving pedophilic junky who murdered his wife... Jean Genet, similar. Louis Celine, arguably a Nazi sympathizer. Hunter Thompson, a rageaholic, woman beating, coke fiend who shoots guns at his neighbors and collects snuff films. Still like their work. It still has merit. There are still positive aspects to them.

There are people who think Oscar Wilde was a bad person for being a gay opium addict. There are people that think Kurt Vonnegut was a bad person for being an anti-war leftist.

Rampant stonecasting, moral judgements, and the constant need to label individuals as worthless for disagreeing with them, in my book, is a tell-tale sign of a bad person.

Wikipedia posted:

Before the war, Céline campaigned for an alliance between France and Nazi Germany. In L'École des cadavres he contrasted Hitler with the French Communist party leader Maurice Thorez, writing:

Who is the true friend of the people? Fascism is. Who has done the most for the working man? The USSR or Hitler? Hitler has... Who has done the most for the small businessman? Not Thorez but Hitler!

During the Occupation of France, he wrote letters to several collaborationist journals, denouncing the Jews. Even some Nazis thought Céline's antisemitic pronouncements were so extreme as to be counter-productive. Bernhard Payr, the German superintendent of propaganda in France, considered that Céline "started from correct racial notions" but his "savage, filthy slang" and "brutal obscenities" spoiled his "good intentions" with "hysterical wailing".

Yeah, "arguably a Nazi sympathizer" is an understatement.

Fun fact: the absurd illogic of the antisemitic ravings in Trifles for a Massacre, combined with Céline's reputation as a great writer, led some people at the time to read it as a satrical anti-anti-semitic novel. Then School of Corpses came out and they realized that the irrational hatred was sincere.

Yeah, Shaw had some hosed up authoritarian attitudes.

George Orwell, "Second Thoughts on James Burnham" posted:

The only exception I am able to think of is Bernard Shaw, who, for some years at any rate, declared Communism and Fascism to be much the same thing, and was in favour of both of them.

Orwell himself deserves a mention here for how appallingly sexist he could be sometimes.
