Goast posted:isn't the hurricane naming scheme supposed to make it easy to differentiate between storms? they recycle names every few years and only take one off the list if it was a particularly notable storm. this isn't the first hurricane florence, but it will probably be the last.

The nothingburger crew also likes to pretend that forceasts were more apocalyptic than they were in order to justify nothingburgering over even a huge disaster. Like someone posted a couple pages back in the GBS thread "remember when all the models were showing a cat 5 landfall except for one that was a cat 4, lol" which was never a thing.
