It's pretty wild 3 years ago I was in Maine about to finish the Appalachian Trail. I didn't even know a hurricane was barreling down on my home when a guy I had only met 3 months prior and hadn't seen since I was in Virginia asked me at the campsite we both happened to stop at if I was okay and how Houston was. What? What's going on in Houston? Oh poo poo that sounds bad. The next day I barely had signal on top of a mountain and called home. My girlfriend had gone up to Dallas to visit a friend and my parents were fine up past Huntsville. Friends were okay and didn't flood. A friend's parents house did minorly. Otherwise the whole city was drowning and I missed it. Then 11 days later the remnants of Harvey made its way up to Maine and on my summit day I was absolutely blasted by rain and misery. It's weird because even though I missed being in Houston when Harvey struck I still managed to feel its wrath and have my own story of it.

Oh cool I didn't know that! I know nothing about how HVAC works.

It's a lot fancier now but the process at its simplest is pretty much send cold fluid through coils > blow air over coils > cold air!

is it possible yet to list a house when a hurricane is predicted and have it gobbled up by some automated venture capital buying process before the storm makes landfall?

Not quite the same but a buddy of mine sold their house in San Antonio to some house flippers two weeks before the ice storm and whoops the pipes exploded and hosed a lot up so lol at them.
