I already listen to so many RPG podcasts, am I really about to add another to the list?

Apparently I already have the first three episodes downloaded, guess I’ll give it a listen after work!

So I listened to the first episode last night, and I’m already kinda in love. It reminds me so much of early TAZ: Balance, which is still my gold standard for a comedy RPG podcast. I was nearly in tears during the exchange between Beverly and the scoutmaster.

“So all I gotta do is get the gold back from those ruffians over there-“

“Nope. Don’t talk to them. Don’t get the gold back from them. That’s just a loss! Let’s just chalk that one up to a loss!”

I’ve gotten through three episodes now and I’m madly in love. I think Moonshine might be my favorite? I’m certainly excited to see them eventually go to the actual Crick and hopefully see her “Children of the Crick” goof come to fruition.

Beverly is a close second place for me, with Hardwon being last. So far Hardwon has been just fine. Kinda reminds me more of Merle from TAZ, where a lot of the comedy comes from Hardwon/Merle just not using all of the powers at their disposal, or just rolling really badly. But it being Jake’s first time playing D&D, just like Clint, I’m sure he’ll come into his own sooner or later. It takes some time to get comfortable with it.

Beverly trying to jam a crocodile’s mouth open with a stick in episode 4 is basically every player I’ve had in my D&D campaigns in a nutshell. :suicide:

TAZ liveshows are fun to be at live, but man do I find myself never finishing them when they’re released on the feed. Haven’t even listened to yesterday’s, even though it’s my absolute favorite show.

I like them alright and you gotta give each one a shot because that wrestling one was BONKERS.

The wrestling one I’ve finished and that is a really good one. I think I’ve got like a 50/50 record with actually finishing them. Some of them have my favorite moments too! The casino heist with Lup has one of my favorite scenes with Merle’s insect plague, for instance.

I dunno. Like, they’re not bad, but I just have a hard time getting into them sometimes.

Haven’t had time to listen much, but I’m almost through the first arc, and boy do I love the green teens.

Tooooouuuuuccchhh hands!

Also, the fact that there is a merit patch for seemingly every arbitrary task or action might be my favorite running joke.

I got to listen to a few episodes today, and I'm now through Moonstone and halfway through the final episode of Ezry.

Ezry: I knew as soon as Professor Duttle gave the Band of Twos those long rest potions, that it was going to end up being a horrible mistake. That's far too much power for any simple party member to wield!

Murphy is a drat creative DM. I loved the repurposing of sci-fi dystopia tropes into this post-war fantasy city with these weird designer drugs (And the name R. Caine is very good for that purpose too). Hell, just R. Caine in general sounds like an element I'd love to retool and fit into my own sessions.

Stunkbug is a great temporary addition to the crew, and I love the way that Murphy plays off of the crazy poo poo the players say and build their characters and world with. Like, Stunkbug is constantly talking about living in and eating literal poo poo, and then Duttle after being confronted, points out that those implanted memories were all just jokes and that orcs don't actually eat poo poo. This makes me all the more excited to see what the eventual Crick is going to look like, because if it's half as insane as Moonshine has made it sound...

I also do like that they feel like they're in danger at times, unlike TAZ. I think only once listening to TAZ did I think someone might die, and then Travis ended up not doing the extremely dangerous thing that would have likely killed him in the end. Here, people are rolling death saving throws fairly often. Which isn't necessarily a slight against TAZ, because I love TAZ and it's different styles of play and storytelling, but it really makes me fear for the character's at points.

This show is extremely good.

Hardwon: ”I’ll talk to the storm god myself” holy poo poo :stare:

This show rules. I think this might have surpassed TAZ as my favorite actual play show by this point. Like, I legitimately shouted in excitement at several times during my two-hour drive today.

Still playing catchup with NADDPod. Just finished episode 23.

What is with young Bev and mocking gods when they’re all thousands of feet up in the air? Cobb better be okay.

Episode 35: That may have been the most devastating 2 that they’ve rolled yet. I figured there would be an attempt on Gemma’s life, didn’t think it would be the same episode we meet her!

I’m finally caught up!

Moonshine deciding to kill the giant, and then leaving him on death’s door so she doesn’t have to be the one to deal the killing blow might be the darkest moment yet. And then Bev suffocating him with the Bag of Holding. Holy poo poo. And when the mammoth crit on Balnor and put him down in hostile territory. I thought for sure he was a goner. What an episode to catch up on.

This show owns, easily my favorite actual play podcast now. Time to become a Patreon donor so I can start listening to the short rests!

Hot drat, the last part of the purple worm encounter was intense. I thought for sure Moonshine was toast.

The ending to the latest episode is fantastic. Nothing like starting a genocide by pulling up some trolls to deal with your fey problem!

Also, super bummed out that Bev’s troll-in-a-bowl plan got shot down by Cran as being an insanely bad idea. Which it was, but drat that would have been amazing to see backfire in the future.
