The LSD and insect venom scene was so unnerving, I was so relieved when it was all over and I mean that as a complement.

This atmospheric horror renaissance is pretty great, over the last few years we got Mandy, House of the Devil, Hereditary, The Blackcoat's Daughter, The VVitch, It Follows, and a bunch of others. So much of the 90's and early 2000's were a dark time for horror. I'm totally on board with all of these artsy moody horror films.

There's a good bit of gore for some of the kills but it's all over pretty quick and there's no weird torture porn stuff going on. It takes it's time getting to the revenge bit and it comes as kind of a relief because it's after like a straight hour of trippy dread and anxiety.

Under The Skin is good and has one visual in particular that is permanently etched in my mind. Killer soundtrack too.

I love the bit about Starlings, it's sad and makes me empathize with Mandy. The camera slowly coming closer is a nice touch too.
