I hope they have done something about the mid-game grind where you are travelling the universe over trying to find the specific ships you need and the equipment to outfit them. I always resorted to cheat-scripts to create my trading empire after having saved up enough funds with a couple universe traders to "make it ok to cheat".

Oh my god this game is so loving frustrating.
My enjoyment would go up approximately 1000% if the map was usable. As it is right now it is completely covered by huge "menus" or something for each station in the system. I need to zoom in really really far to be able to see anything. Please tell me there is a way to disable these things?

Also I picked up some contraband after killing pirates but I can't find any way to dump/eject them because they are crafting ingredients so they don't count as cargo but the police scan detects them and they yell at me to dump my contraband and get angry.
Some tutorials are very broken, the 3rd and 4th ones I had to re-load the game to be able to proceed. The 3rd didn't spawn the signal source the first time and for the 4th one the game never spawned a trader inside the station.

The game also randomly activates missions that you have inactivated making your target switch and the autopilot is completely hosed, my ship just drifts to the right when activating it, it never goes towards my selected target.

Thank you so much! It was seriously impossible to use the map with that enabled, probably a rare error seeing how I'm playing in 4k on a 65" screen but still...

Do I need something for the autpilot to work? When I enable it my ship just turn slightly to the right and the goes straight forward no matter what target I have set.

Regarding turrets: A dev posted on the Steam discussion boards that turrets do not work. The issue is that they do not update the targeting position of the enemy ship frequent enough due to performance concerns. It is a known issue and the dev said he would "assign someone to it" but seeing how they released the game knowing fully well that turrets don't work at all I don't have high hopes.

I'm a bighuge X2/X3 fan but man X4 is extremely frustrating. Pretty much everything is bugged in some way.

Guild missions where you have to repair data leaks do not work, your repair gun destroys them failing the mission. Regular data leak repair missions do work.

Missions where you have to find some lost cargo that has 2 lockboxes are bugged. Either there is only 1 box to be found or if you find the second one the missions switches from "Find Lockboxes 1/2" to "Find the lockbox" making it impossible to complete.

The autopilot barely works, either it flies straight into a station, asteroid or portal, giving you the message "autopilot epic fail" (??????) or it just disables itself mid-journey, preferably while you are travelling in that huge circle circuit making you do laps around the galaxy until you re-enable the autopilot. Funnily enough getting up from your seat and having the AI captain pilot the ship works really well. The autopilot works if you want to go a short distance within the same sector.

The autotraders are also bugged, if they are not straight up losing you money they will fill up with either small amounts of water/energy cells and make long pondering journeys to go at best +/- 0 or just fill up with stuff they can't sell, for example Hull Plates.

Turrets are not working (as per a dev post).

The combat AI is....bugged, you can kill any ship with any ship if you are in a 1v1 situation given enough time/patience. If you face several enemies you will die from collisions, not by getting hit. Since turrets don't work enemy ships with them are no danger at all, the danger comes from getting suicide rammed by them.

I've read that many people have problems with getting miners to work, specifically the selling of the goods part. Would you mind writing how you made it work, if it is fully automated that is?

Humz, I am a complete newbie and I basically just fumbled around and it worked. I remotely bought a medium miner and set its default behaviour to automine silicon. At the time I didn't know if I had to do anything to make it auto sell, but as soon as it fills up it goes off to the nearest station to sell then returns to mining without any further configuration. My pilot has 1 star in automine, what ever effect that has.

The only thing I'd say was of note is that it's mining and selling in the same region of space. I have no idea what would happen if the nearest location to sell was outside of the system. I've noticed there's a partially truncated option in the auto mine settings that says something like "maximum distance to.." but I left it at the default of 0/10. No idea what it does and there's no tooltip to reveal the rest of the option name.

I can actually help you here, the UI is cut off because it is too large, in the settings there is a "UI Scale" (or something) option where you can scale it down so that it fits your screen.
Usually when I play games on my 4k/High DPI screen I have to scale the UI way up but in this game it is perfect at 1.0 so I assume if you play on a non-4k/non High DPI screen you need to scale it down so it will fit. I have seen many people complain about this specific UI element being cut-off so I assume this is the problem.

That's what so weird, I read the same thing on reddit but in my game it is not true. I built an engine parts factory (bought it from the Teladi) and according to the logical overview it requires "Refined Metals" yet when I build a Teladinium factory it produces "Teladinium" which according to the logical overview does not satisfy the Refined Metals requirement of the Engine Parts factory. And I can't buy Ore Refinerys anywhere despite being level 20+ with all factions, the only way in my game to produce refined metals is from the Refined Metals factory which only the HOP has for sale. Very strange.

One weird thing I've noticed is that AI stations lowest price is lower than your minimum price which leads to situations like your station traders picking up intermediate goods even though you produce everything you need yourself because they can buy it cheaper than you can set the max price to.

I've noticed a problem with how the game handles L class fighter ships that are assigned to stations. Regular M and S class fighters protect the station and traders/miners assigned to it but L class ships instead get an order to patrol the sector the station is in. This causes them to attack all ships in that sector that are hostile to the owner of the sector despite you being friends with them. So for example a PAR ships enters HOP space, I have 30 relationship with both but all my ships just beeline for that PAR ship and blow it apart causing me to lose relationship.

I also noticed that a trading agreement by itself is not enough to be able to teleport to AI stations, you also need high relationship, I don't know what the limit is but I can teleport to stations where I have 29 rep but not 26.

Too be honest I havn't played since 1.3 dropped, but I cheated my way into a station with the entire production chain, and it was constantly needing more money cheats. How that was happening I have no idea, since I produced everything and had like 20 medium ships and 5 or so XL mining/trading supplying it all. I was using the broken alien starting station.

The alien station is unfortunately in a very bad location. You want something with many close connections where AI traders can easily "find" you as you will be relying on them to make money. Station assigned traders are 100% retarded and will spend their time selling 20 antimatter cells halfway round the galaxy while AI high-tech traders come and pick up 600 Claytronics like nothing. Make sure you have the large docks as only L ships buy the most expensive goods because they are so large. I can recommend Holy Vision and Second Contact II Flashpoint as good places for a megafactory.

I believe you can dismantle your station and move it but I would suggest just starting a new game. To gain money easily in the beginning:
Do data leak/satellite repair missions and buy 2 mineral miners. Set them to mine Nividium. Drop a satellite by the Teladi Trading Station in Ianamus Zura IV and get rich. Spamming Silicon and Ore miners is also a fast way.

The reason you would want an unmodded game is because you can then use the multiplayer Ventures feature.

Your first factory should produce Food Rations and Medical Supplies, the modules are cheap, they produce a lot and everyone needs it. As money starts rolling in you can upgrade the station to add more goods like Engine and Hull parts. Once you are really rich you can go to Claytronics, Field Coils and Smart Chips.

I would not bother with traders at all right now, they make absolutely no money in the long run.

Edit: Forgot most important and most grindy part: You need to drop a satellite by ever station in every sector for your miners to work properly, I would buy a small ship, fill it with satellites and queue up drop commands on the map, you still need to discover the stations first manually though. Buy the trading subscriptions as soon as you can, they are very good unless you enjoy travelling around and looking for stations yourself.

Does anyone else have to constantly baby their autotraders/miners or is my game bugged? Like 50% of my ships are constantly "stuck", either they are empty and do absolutely nothing and have to have their orders reset or they are stuck with a full inventory of either unsold goods or even mined resources which I need to drop, then they start working again.

Like I had 0 helium in one of my stations, I take a look at my helium miners and they are ALL just hanging out in space with full inventories of helium. I then have to drop the inventory and they immediately start mining again and supplying my station.

I don't have any mods but my save is from the release.
