I really hope it's actually someone new and not just... Boba Fett...

Confirmed: It's a Mandolorian.

quote:

Dave Filoni (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels) directing the first episode. Additional episodic directors include Deborah Chow (Jessica Jones), Rick Famuyiwa (Dope), Bryce Dallas Howard (Solemates), and Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok).

EDIT:

I really really want the thing on his back to be the electric prod thing Boba has in the Holiday Special.

Looks like The Mandolorian will be scored by Ludwig Göransson, who recently did the music for Blank Panther and Venom.

If they do decide to do more Clone Wars, there's still a whole bunch of material from episodes they were planning before the cancellation. Off the top of my head, some of the stuff they could use would be:

Ahsoka living on Coruscant after leaving the Jedi
Cad Bane mentoring young Boba Fett
The Maul arc that got adapted into Son of Dathomir
The two Asajj Ventress arcs that got adapted into Dark Disciple (they could give it a better ending!)
A second Bad Batch arc set on Kashyyyk
An arc about an ancient Sith temple found deep under the Jedi temple, which would have had Ahsoka (indirectly) face Palpatine
Something with the Yuuzhan Vong?????

I think Filoni mentioned at one point doing stories set after Episode III, but who knows what they would have been.

So it looks like we're getting the Bad Batch arc, an Ahsoka in the Coruscant underworld arc, and then the Siege of Mandalore as the final arc?

It's kind of a bummer that the Utapau arc isn't getting completed but I can understand why. It's not as exciting or action packed as the others, and while it does have a really really good scene of Anakin and Obi-Wan talking about Ahsoka leaving the order, most of it is about the Separatists collecting kyber crystals... which isn't a plot thread that's followed up on anywhere else.

It's interesting that the Ahsoka Coruscant arc seems to be a mix of work they had already done and new stuff. The scene they showed of her on the bike was shown in an animatic form at the Ahsoka panel at Celebration London, and there was no mention of the male possible love interest character they had talked about then. It seems they've replaced that character with the two sisters.

It's been pretty much confirmed that The Mandalorian and Clone Wars have been what Filoni has been working on, so I wouldn't expect anything new beyond that for a while.

This is interesting, it looks like the Rebels season 2 opener got changed for Disney+. Sam Witwer's Palpatine voice has been replaced by a new recording of Ian McDiarmid.

Yeah they 'sneak' but basically everyone around them knows something is up, although most likely not that they're actually married. Rex knows, Obi-Wan knows, Bail probably knows, Ahsoka knows.

I'm so happy Clone Wars is back. These last two episodes have been amazing.

One of the Mandalorians with Bo-Katan was Ursa Wren, Sabine's mother. So I guess we'll see more of her in the Siege of Mandalore episodes.

I'm all for more audio dramas, but the casting for Dooku: Jedi Lost was really bizarre. The person doing Ventress was fine, but the guy playing Dooku sounded nothing like Christopher Lee or Corey Burton. Both of those characters already had established voice actors, so I don't know why they didn't just use them.

OK we've got Obi-Wan, Darth Vader, Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker, lightsabers, Star Destroyers, and about every other piece of visual imagery that is Star Wars for this Star Wars TV show made by the company that will own Star Wars in purpiuity throughout the universe.

Not sure we can use the music though.

(did they consider asking?)

The full quote says that they did actually have John Williams watch it and he "gave permission" for his themes to be used in Episode 6 specifically:

https://twitter.com/guysmusiccave/status/1540702094801440768

I highly doubt there was any legal or rights reasons they had to ask him for permission, I think it's more they didn't want to piss off John Williams.

Plus Obi-Wan Kenobi was the one show that had an original piece written by John Williams.

If there was any of the Star Wars shows that would have permission to use Williams, it's Kenobi.

I would bet that Williams' theme and permission came in very late in the show's production. All of the cues in the show that actually used Williams' new theme were written by a different composer (William Ross), so it's likely that Natalie Holt wrote the score before all this happened, under the impression that she couldn't use any existing themes, and then they brought someone else in to add in the new theme after it was written.

It's all a bit of a mess but I doubt we'll ever know exactly what happened.

She literally is pulled through the time portal and into a different time entirely, skipping months or years. This contradicts the last we see of her in Twilight of the Apprentice, in which she has not jumped through time and is seen disappearing down a dark cavern. There's definitely a split here, it's not just a simple time loop.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eU9JRYzUBBg&t=305s

When she leaves the World Between Worlds, Ahsoka goes back to the same time she left (Twilight of the Apprentice). After she's back from TWBW we see her start to approach the dark cavern we saw her enter at the end of Twilight of the Apprentice.

When we see her walking into that cavern at the end of Twilight of the Apprentice, it is after she has already met Ezra in the World Between Worlds and then come back. So nothing has actually changed, The World Between Worlds (the episode) just tells us how Ahsoka went from fighting Vader to going into the cavern.
