BYOB8.2 is and has always been liquid in what it "was". It's very hard to define what changed when BYOB has always been changing. The forum now vs last year isn't a more dramatic difference than a year ago vs two years ago. It's pretty clear that when BYOB changes it doesn't get worse but does get very different. The current state of the forum is way chiller than it used to be, and I think that's good - I think the environment fluffie and the mods have created fosters creativity and niceness. I miss, honestly, the clever put downs of early 8.2, the snarkiness, like, the fire. But I think this is better - even if its not as much for me as it once was. For a long time BYOB was almost like an interactive soap opera - drama every week. It was addictive. Many people, me included, sought out drama whenever we could. It was what the forum used to thrive on. DCT, I think, started the big turn away from that, though it was still a big part of the forum. As it is now it's a much nicer place I think, and I'm glad of it. WindmillSlayer fucked around with this message at 13:39 on Nov 2, 2018

The morphology of byob, very interesting Byob is no longer the mischievous adolescent it once was. Thank you byob for being the weird forum

To me, the changes in byob are epitomized by the downswing of pornography. Like, there never came to be a hard rule against pornography in byob posts, but people just stopped posting it as the forum’s temperament changed. I find it kind of ironic that people used to think of byob as the wild-west, sarcastic version of the comparatively mild GBS. Oh, how times change. It would be nice if byob had as many regular posters today as it did back in the day.

An inception troll if you will. Another BYOB success story.

I think a lot of the "best" BYOB moments are best left in the past though. tbf you brought BB up to begin with this thread was to help me deal with the fact that i missed a decent chunk of the evolution of byob and now feel like what a time traveller from 2014 might feel like if they were to all of a sudden start posting again. i fear change, its time for me to grow up and face the facts of life.... that this byob... it's not the byob of two years ago (2014 - 2018 = 4, yeah i know, my memories and thus OP are hosed up now because time means nothing to me because drugs, deal with it)
