Everyone has a
guardian angel.
This movie made me have a big goofy grin on my face for the entire second half. Just a lot of fun! I actually enjoyed most of the first half as well since it meant more Hardy. They should have given Venom more time to develop since his face turn comes really abrupt, but I respect them for not turning this into a 150 minute epic. The final fight was pretty bad but I enjoyed the slow motion shots. I give this a solid endorsement!

It doesn't feel like this needed to be 150 minutes, it seems like just editing down the first 45 minutes then expanded the scenes that needed expanding would have done it. So much stuff that happens in the first part just doesn't need to be shown or could happen in half the time.

Someone I work with barely knows what Spiderman is, letalone Venom, and she loved it.

She thought it was a new IP and has no idea it was even based on anything.

All I know about venom is from the 90s cartoon and marvel vs capcom 2. Does he drive a van in the movie?

That must have been a weird week for the animator.

Just saw this yesterday to kill some time before Halloween, and for the most part it was surprisingly decent considering some of the negative reactions. But who's the guy in prison at the very end supposed to be?

Serial killer Cletus Cassidy who will become the host of Venom's nemesis/offspring Carnage.

Saw Venom last night. It was dumb as hell, and it should have been a hard R. Still immensely enjoyed myself.

I'm glad this movie skips a lot of the stuff the comics has done and goes straight to the more interesting current ones where the symbiote has an actual personality and interacts with Eddie Brock like a person. The Eddie-Venom banter leading to a relationship is the best part.

Isn't one of the four Symbiotes collected unaccounted for? Venom, Riot, an unnamed one that was destroyed, leaves one more which send the best origin for it herr?

IIRC you see one of the symbiotes is already dead when Eddie sneaks into the lab and later the other unnamed symbiote dies after its used to kill Jenny Slate's character.

Carnage was them taking the concept of venom being "edgy" and trying to crank it to ten thousand. I'm a little worried for a pg13 version of that, in a perfect world they'd let him play it similar to natural born killers.

I have a feeling they're gonna try going an R rated route with Carnage.

Have you seen this dude? The symbiote mixed straight into his bloodstream, that's about as grody as it gets :barf:

No, for real, Carnage was in Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark.

I don't sweat PG-13 Carnage too much. Like 95% of his comic appearances have been PG-13.

The MSJ

Carnage was also the villain of the final arc of that 90s Spider-Man cartoon. His host was another Spider-Man from another dimension instead of Cletus.

Yeah they could definitely do it PG-13.

I mean at the time Venom and Carnage were the new hotness in the comics they were very solidly PG-13. These characters don’t really need explicit content to do what they do.

I just don't want Hannibal lector carnage and that seems to be where it's heading. But then again I didn't think I'd care about this movie enough to get this far so...shrug.

It's because they have nothing else and it's easier just to recut this and ship it out.

Deadpool is just a gift that keeps giving to the studio. He wears a mask so dialogue can be replaced wholesale, and they probably took loads of extra takes with different jokes like for the supercut. And it's a good time of year to put out something that can be bought for tweens.

Can't begrudge them it either, it would have been so easy for them to have not made a movie like Deadpool.

I read a comic with carnage in it as a kid. I still remember the term "gut pudding" when he crushed a bunch of people together into mush.

Also Venom is now over 822 million worldwide which means it has surpassed most of the MCU. China is apparently the biggest contributor.
