a neat cape posted:Unironically, they're using him a lot differently this year. A lot of swings and pitches and screens to get him in space, and not just running him between the tackles. The former is where he's much more dangerous and effective. Exactly. He's not a great inside runner but if he can get to the edge or get the ball in space, he's incredibly effective. It's how they should've been using him the whole time, tbh. They really need to run some two RB sets with him and Ekeler though. Defending the edge against both those guys would be hell for teams that aren't well equipped at LB to handle it.

Flikken posted:Offense isn't any different than it had been, Greg Williams can't stop a running play today. Yeah, the Browns' LBs have been getting lit up in space all game long. And their blitz hasn't really gotten to Rivers very much, honestly. Philip is one of the best against the blitz but the Browns haven't really put much heat on him all day.

mastershakeman posted:Miami is insane garbage how was Chicago losing to them for a half all you have to do is just wait for brock to start loving up (because he always does) to bury whatever team he plays for quickly. He started loving up. The Bears also look like a team that scores a bunch of points in quick bunches anyway.

Gatts posted:Chargers doing a good job on defense and making Baker not as clean and decisive. It'd help if we could catch. The Browns' tackles are really bad but the Chargers' secondary is playing their asses off today, especially after looking kinda lovely outside of Derwin for the first quarter of the year. Rookie QBs always hold onto the ball too long to try and make something happen anyway, which compounds things.

Just feels like a game where everything's gone wrong for Cleveland and gone right for the Chargers. Right down to the missed false start (how the gently caress they never miss that...). I really felt like this was gonna be a much closer game than it was, the Browns aren't that awful of a team.

torgeaux posted:Adam Gase sucks at play calling, he is the #1 reason the fins suck at O. They could be solidly in the middle with 2 good running backs, some great possession receivers who run great slants, but he loving won't do it. And, the fins inability to cover TEs and RBs in the passing game is freaking legendary at this point. Gase calls way too much dink 'n dunk poo poo, but at the same time the Dolphins barely have an o-line left and Brock is as terrible as he's always been

a neat cape posted:Tyrell bailed Rivers out on that triple covered TD, but yeah. Outside of those early drives that we started inside our own five in the first quarter, we haven't missed a beat. yeah I seriously thought that was a pick b/c tyrell ALWAYS whiffs on those type of catches where he has to be strong at the point of it, but he somehow pulled it off.

torgeaux posted:A slant takes the same time as a bubble screen, the difference is the ball is already past the line of scrimmage on a slant. Throwing -5 every down and hoping for a miracle block is bullshit. that's very true, yeah. I've never been fond of bubble screens as well for that reason EDIT: though they scored on one, go fig
