I stumbled on this woodblock print at the flea market today for a couple bucks. It was pretty nicely framed and it is kitschy so we picked it up. 20 bucks so whatever. My wife speaks Chinese and was able to get a little out of it but not much. Something something man fixing car. Anyone able to figure out what this is? It might be a common print, I just don't know what to search for. Frame looks like it is from the 50s/60s. Also, this is on the bottom right, cut off for some reason in first pic:

mystes posted:I can't read this style of handwriting but based on the text at the bottom right, it's no. 15 of volume 2 in a series of books titled "Nihon fūzoku zue" (Genre Paintings of Japan), which were published in 1914. Wow, way more than I expected to hear. Pretty cool!

no pubes yet sorry posted:Wow, way more than I expected to hear. Pretty cool! A little more research: Apparently by Moronobu: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hishikawa_Moronobu And the original print was in: https://www.mfa.org/collections/object/wakoku-shoshoku-ezukushi-collection-of-pictures-of-various-occupations-in-japan-482332 The internet is goddamn incredible. Anyway, I don't know anything about this particular type of art. It does look like it is a page from a book (not a modern reproduction). Does it have any more value than the 20 dollars and a cool conversation? (i.e. should I re-frame it)
