Although for serious, they did make great hay out of the fact she was ACTUALLY a nerd despite being an Amazonian beauty.

There's nothing wrong with splitting authorial credit between story and writer. I remember the old joke about why Millar was such a good Superman Adventures writer when he was bad at everything else and the answer was "Grant Morrison."
