Guy Davis doesn't say anything nice in this tweet:
https://twitter.com/GuyDavisART/status/1276228339942985737?s=20

quote:

I quit the series in 2011 because of the toxic behavior of Allie, Mignola, Arcudi and cut all contact.

Arcudi has talked about having bad blood with Mignola and DH over the 2019 movie and royalties, not sure who's in the right there and am having trouble finding any articles (other than a Reddit post linking to a deleted tweet).

A complaint I've seen from the Ellis revaluations is that there isn't a standard process for getting into comics like there is with novels. It's all about knowing someone who knows someone.

Or working alone for years to build up one's own audience, but may as well just do your own thing at that point.

I only scrubbed through the video, but it sounds like typical "I hate new characters" combined with "any diversity is forced" that's been going around fan spaces for years.

hearing a lot about Kate Leth being a racist, this sounds vaguely familiar but can someone share the context?

I can't find a specific site detailing what she's said/done, but The Valkyries broke up last year after accusations of racism in the organization and a podcast about Buffy the Vampire Slayer has been publicly cutting ties with her over the last few days.

Talk around her has been going around for a few months, at least.

Edit: I guess this details a bunch, but I haven't watched it.

My bedside has my copy of the Complete Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (read two of the books and put it down in like February), the latest Wondermark collection (read a couple pages at a time when I remember, I've been forgetting for a few months now), and all twelve issues of Visions 2020 that I haven't put away (they predicted hermetically sealed cities to avoid infectious diseases and a government controlled by the religious right restricting LGBTQ+ and abortion rights!).

It seems that when Marvel gets the rights to publish something they bought from Dark Horse, it doesn't have to pay any royalties that were originally contracted.

What's stopping any company from creating a new company for reprints and transferring rights to get around contracts, then?

One reason I heard that Qanon is so good at spreading is that it's basically an ARG with no "right" answer, so everyone who falls for it does so because they put in the work to figure out what is "really going on". There needs to be drastically more work to dissuade someone of an option they worked hard to cultivate on their own.
