D&D is fine if you break its back and do with it whatever the gently caress you want.

Source: me who is DMing a campaign set on a Metropolis on the Farm Realms, Ruled by a Lich that looks like this:

Who is a Gameshow host and controls a living dungeon that the PCs must travel.

Nothing in the D&D rules supports this but who gives a poo poo.

Imagine if someone said late run Bleach is good because I wrote a bunch of fanfiction that's way better than the actual manga. That's basically the attitude far too many TT RPG players have. What you are doing is good, but you shouldn't think that makes D&D good. In the same way, a Pulitzer prize-winning fanfiction set in the Bleach universe doesn't make Bleach good. Making that mistake is why so many TT RPGs have trash mechanics. And if the same thing happened in manga, we'd have even more trash in manga. It's bad enough dealing with pro-slavery Isekais. We don't need any more trash.

I can see what they're foreshadowing, and I don't like it. Please stop looking like a bittersweet ending is coming up.

Laius has a great memory of how his companions are, but he does not pay attention to their dress or equipment. He spends all his time thinking about monsters instead of fashion.

This sums it up pretty well:

Courier has a plot arc where two mages are forced into taking increasingly irrelevant and hopeless jobs that grind them into paste to barely make end's meet, and matters come to a head when their next assignment is going to be to literally be stuffed in a new wagon machine that barely keeps them alive while squeezing them for magic power to fuel itself, basically forcing them to say "gently caress this" and join a group of anti-government terrorists.

It's definitely told in the style of absurdist dark humor, and those two mages basically become Fantasy Team Rocket in the process, but it's still a bleak story a fair amount of the time.

That's definitely depressingly realistic to how many guilds treated their apprentices and journeymen. In the less industrialized regions, it was these abused people who made up much of the mobs in the revolutions of 1848. Despite the fantasy tropes and the comedy, this is a manga about the rise of the bureaucratic state in the early modern period over the endless petty wars of the medieval aristocracy. It's still definitely worth reading though.

On the other hand, he still might end up destroying the world, because this chapter demonstrated that he is not very good at it. :v:

Especially since it seems like the whole "destroyed the world by granting infinite magical energy" wasn't even the first time he destroy the world by granting wishes. The dwarf wishing for destruction definitely predates the ancient civilization that Laicus and everyone talk about.

He really did. Grew up raised by the elvish dungeon crawling squad and ended up becoming a dungeon crawler himself, but all his actual skills are in charisma, politics, intrigue, and dualing humans. We built him for the wrong campaign, as a joke.

Speaking of the new episode, I only just realized Kabru failed to perma kill the corpse gatherers. In Laios royal speech panel in chapter 96, they are there in the crowd. No one comments on it, but somehow they are back in time for the grand Falin feast.

The issue is the WL predates not just the ancient civilization but the split between different races. In fact it is implied every race is the result of a group wish that successfully utilized the WL. Also the defeat of the WL caused all dungeon lords in the world to lose power, proving the WL was telling the truth that there is only one dungeon demon, and all of them are just aspects of it. That's why the elves start a big therapy group for former dungeon lords after the end of the WL.

This wasn't in any of the actual volumes, was it? Is all the side content collected anywhere?

The first adventurer bible is translated in full, but the later side content is scattered all over. Like the little tidbit that giant mushroom monsters are a sign a demon dungeon is about to reach it's final form, because mushroom monster > giant mushroom monster is a terrible promotion that costs tons of mana for barely any benefit. It's the kind of thing a dungeon master would do only when they are running out of ideas on how to spend excess mana.

This account seems to have more of the newer side material that isn't organized and translated.

Kabru's rizz is so high he convinced the landlord to let him rent for free, and then convinced the landlord to clean his room for him, also for free.

Kabru: Causal racism against kobolds
Laios: Oh that's just like the Highlanders we have near our village
Falin: Casual racism against the Scottish
Kabru: :gonk:

If Kabru's party ran into a shapeshifter, Kabru would be able to figure out everyone else's copy pretty easily. But how would they handle the fakes based on Kabru's memories?

Dragon, Hero and Courier is amazing and I wished it would continue long enough to reach reveal the banished former hero. But sadly it ended with the final clash between the city and the eight-eyed wizard.

I completely forgot Kabru also had to deal with nightmare clams in a later chapter too.
