That was a super, duper fluke of a fumble. He wasn't even touched. Putting that aside, spreading out a defense on the goal line has its benefits. Even a bad defense can put enough beef on the line to have a chance of making some kind of a goal line stand. Spacing out a defense can give you more options and teams are taking advantage.
