V for Vegans posted:I think practice the cars are fueled lightly and with no fuel loss, like when you set a lap in the normal daily races. However, in qualifying you start with a full tank of fuel. It used to be that every FIA race started with a lap of everyone driving around revving out at 3rd gear to burn off as much fuel as possible before doing their flying lap but they said they were trying to stop that from happening. Not sure if they’ve taken any action on that yet. dang, hot tips!

Tonights FIA Race was absolutely insane. I can't decide if it was funny or not in retrospect, but someone at Polyphony was having a laugh. Special Stage Route X in N800 cars for two laps. It was silly, just trying to get in slipstream trains. It was like Tour de France practice or something. On the plus side I did go from 14th to 2nd. I put the video below if you just want to take in some of the absurdity of it all, it should start where some of the "action" begins. I wouldn't watch the whole thing because hell I was bored playing it, but it was just something else and I doubt we get anything like it again. Mercifully they seemed to tone down the penalties for this race, whole lot of bump drafting going on. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hrW4sP-gnqg&t=95s Jovial Cow fucked around with this message at 00:58 on Jul 29, 2020 |

Yeah, that race looks like everything I’ve ever wanted in a highly competitive FIA race. It’s already a toss up of how I do in normal races, so at least there Id be having some fun with it in drafting on fools and watching crazy crashes.

I think the team must have been playing the weird drafting missions on GT4 when they thought that up.

Had a pretty wild Manufacturers Series Rd. 2 in the exhibition season. Monza for 20 laps. Fuel and tire wear was such that you could potentially no stop it but you really had to fuel save and watch the tires. I'd say 60% of the field tried to no stop it and 40% one stopped it. I had a pretty interesting last several laps. Big group kind of fighting for position but everyone was so tight on fuel that if you tried to battle you sort of screwed yourself. Looooots of short shifting and coasting. Video below starts during the last two laps, note the fuel on the bottom. Pretty hilarious ending. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0ahtm6hMS0&t=1322s By the way I love the longer races in the exhibition season, lot of fun. Just got this a couple of days ago, not doing any serious online racing just single player and cruising around and taking in all the car porn but I've mostly played in VR and it's fantastic. I've been thinking about getting a wheel so I decided to try the gyro controls on the DS4 and it works amazingly well. This might be the first game I've played that utilizes that stuff in a way that makes it a perfectly feasible way to play. I'm starting to think it's superior to using the sticks, honestly. The lack of force feedback and my arms getting tired after a long race are the only downsides, really.

*shity post(s) incoming* no joke, playing ACC on a wheel and then going back to GT sport on sticks makes me a better driver. like I anticipate the nuance that you feel on a wheel but don't get on the sticks and Im more consistent. its weird

It initially threw me off how sensitive the gyros are but ultimately it makes more sense that you don't have to twist your arms around too much while you play. I haven't done an actual race with the gyros yet, just drove around in VR but it adds a lot to the immersion. A wheel would add a whole lot more, obviously, but I don't have a couple of hundred to burn on something I'd only be using every once in a while so the gyros are a solid option in bridging that gap. I've played every numbered GT aside from 5 and always used the sticks but it's hard to imagine going back now.

I'm glad the PS5's controller will have the gyros if only for GT7 but I hope they start using them for shooters more.

And right now I'm just focusing on clearing the campaign to get more cars/credits to get more cars that I can cruise around in the VR mode. That said, I may well change my mind on it and playing with goons certainly sounds far more enjoyable than some randos across the globe.

I haven't played with you all since we ditched GT6, then I got a wheel I suck at and never use, then a baby, but GT7 might just pull me back in. In reminiscing about the old days, I pulled up my imgur gallery and one of the oldest images is me using draft in GT5 to pass dudes going backwards in go karts.

That game was an emotional rollercoaster. Very excited for GT7, and that it appears to be going back to its PS1/2 era roots, but with quality of life improvements, and modern day features we've gotten use to in Gran Turismo.

The fact that PS5 won't have PSVR2 for a good long while throws a big bucket of cold water on my excitement for GT7 especially after Yamaguchi expressed further interest in VR fairly recently because as limited as GT Sport's VR mode is, it's by far my favorite thing about it. Right now GT7 is a "might buy" for me, but if it does get VR support once PSVR2 comes out, whenever that might be, only then does it become a "must buy."

https://www.gtplanet.net/gt7-london-underground-station-20201118/ Sony has taken over one of the underground stations in London and renamed it (for just 48 hours) after Gran Turismo 7. Minor marketing stunt, but feels like this further confirms that GT7 is just around the corner if Sony is ramping up its marketing.

Yep, it’s not the traditional “have a gajillion different races against AI” like predecessors or past Forza Motorsports games, but the support GT Sport got was amazing. I think some of the scuttlebutt is because certain markets require more clarifications in advertising - so GT7 as “early 2021” and, yes, Horizon as “late 2021” in the same breath. It could get delayed (lol Polyphony) but I’m still hopeful something will come out by summertime.
