Some old Japanese noise and psych rock. The old psych scene in Japan was amazing. Kousokuya. Hard hitting noise https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WoKNIAUhsgg Hanadensha. A great act in this vein is Bitchin Bajas, definitely scratch that Eno/Fripp and Tangerine Dream 'Zeit' itch. Their 'Bajas Fresh' release was probably my top of 2017: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0VDltUbbFQ

The latest Wooden Shjips album is dope Also Sunns are really good but they're more like psychedelic elevator music than psych rock per se. "Music Won't Save You" is a great bliss out song in the vein of like American Analog Set

Would Comets on Fire be applicable to this thread? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_dcwqbHMXWw Sadly, they're no longer around but their final LP was pretty great. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1Rzi8pt6QU Ben Chasny from Comets on Fire also does Six Organs of Admittance which is more psych-folk. They have a fairly exhaustive discography, so I'm not even really sure what would be best to link from that side of his work. hatelull fucked around with this message at 13:55 on Mar 26, 2019 |

my bony fealty posted:Going to see Acid Mothers Temple tonight. Something I've wanted to do for over a decade since high school so I'm stoked I used to have a neighbor who I never met. He was a little younger than me and he had some interesting band stickers on his car - Nurse with Wound, that sort of thing. I had kids and I had a feeling we were just too far apart in our worlds to really connect. One day I was walking my daughter to the playground and he was on the sidewalk with some crazy looking Japansese dudes with long hair and leather jackets. They were standing near a van and as soon as I saw them I thought, "That's god damned Kawabata Makoto" but I was too nervous to say anything in case I was wrong. Like, what the gently caress would Acid Mothers Temple be doing hanging out in the middle of the day in suburban Alexandria, VA on a sunny afternoon? When I got home I checked online and sure enough, AMT was playing a show that night in DC. I'm pretty sure it was them. I don't know how the dude knew them but I've never kicked myself so hard for not speaking up. Anyway, here's some 70's psych funk from Nigeria: (article on the group) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ObbeQjr0eDM me your dad fucked around with this message at 14:59 on Mar 26, 2019 |
