i mean what are we counting as a computer? does it have to be capable of running arbitrary code? does it need to be a turing machine? does it have to have human-understandable inputs and outputs? can it be a mechanical computer like a lamp timer? an analog mechanical computer like a carburetor? if so, do they count as "idling" by just existing?

ok well then it's

four carburetors
one lamp timer
one e-6b circular slide rule
two linear slide rules
a digital thermostat (not nest)
a microwave oven
a smart tv (plugged in but not turned on)
cable modem
wifi router
NAS box
digital camera (clock continues to tick while off)

plus other things that are probably not doing any computations despite being plugged in, like a digital piano and a scanner

e: smart charger for xbox controllers

I am very shameful and have 3 computers on at all times so I can pretend I’m the cloud but in my bedroom.

I also have 2 desktops that are sleeping most of the time
