For anyone who still think demographics are destiny for the democrats, I would like them to meet the new rep for CA-39 (Orange County), the first korean american woman in congresss who is 100% trumpist. She won in a district that's only 34% white, so much for that destiny.

We should have known better. We, the progressive white people of America should have known better, especially after 2016. Electing a failed casino owner WWE hall of Famer reality show host on a platform of "gently caress all the non-whites" should have shown in stark relief what we're up against in this country. We had hope. Now we see what hope gets us. The work is not over, and it's going to take a long, long time to roll back the damage that was done. We were foolish to even entertain the notion that this year would decisively wipe out 2016. The pile of poo poo is just too deep for one election to wash it clean.

Hey guys, Florida goon checking in to confirm I am still in the hell dimension. I am so angry at my state right now. This state constantly votes against it's own interests (somehow passing every single amendment), and is just flat out racist. I feel like I live in a bubble down in South Florida because there isn't a single person I've spoken to that has said they were voting anything but Gillum, but statistically some of these people are garbage. In the war of Opioids vs North Florida, I'm now on the side of Opioids.

Hi new thread! Last night wasn't perfect, and I'm pissed I'll have to look at Hogan and Cruz's horrible melting faces for a few more years, but things seemed to go pretty well overall. I'm taking it as a sign that I woke up to a beautiful, clear, sunny day today, after like three days of non-stop cold rain.

However, since all states have equal representation in the Senate and not all of them have large cities where this is happening, more Senate seats are trending red than are trending blue. It's a sort of implicit natural gerrymander that is expected to lead to Dem senators from urbanized states being elected by huge margins but being outnumbered by GOP senators from rural states with low total voters. Shortish term, continuing to vote so as to deny the assholes semi-legitimate victories makes sense. Direct action makes sense. Gearing up for 2020 makes sense. Being happy for the current victory makes sense. But given the unique nature of the senate and its powerful ability to ratfuck the entire nation based on the whims of a smaller and smaller proportion of the electorate, am I wrong in that there's no sane way that this government gets unfucked? Even if you turned the entire nation nominally blue, in what world do you convince smaller states to give up power like that without some really bad poo poo happening first? I realize today is a beer and pretzels kinda day, I've just kind of been stuck obsessing over the Senate question for ages now. Given the way this thread is moving at the moment, have some randomly skimmed imgur taxes for, like, page 5 or whatever.
