The answer is always Ben Finegold although his lectures are better than his streams: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCqLLqbclDQ6IQg39Wsgy-4w https://www.twitch.tv/gmbenjaminfinegold

Ben Finegold is the best chess person on the internet and while I agree his lectures are better than his streams, the hardest I ever saw him concentrate was in a stream where he was trying really hard to get 9 queens without accidentally checkmating his opponent.

And we're off. Magnus playing a line which I intuitively like for white but I have no idea how to play it because I don't know how to simplify e4-f4 v e5-f5 pawn structures.

Svidler and Grischuk and Giri annoy me when they go on and on about lines that start with moves that already weren't played by Carlsen/Caruana. They're sometimes three or four moves behind the actual game by the time they play out their scenario that absolutely won't be played because something else is already going on.

Nb7 passive defence does not seem very optimistic, even if it holds for now.

Nb7 is a very inhuman move, because b2/b7/g2/g7 are considered the in-principle worst squares on the board for the knights. You don't play that move unless you can conclusively see a fortress in that position.

e: A wild perpetual check trick appears.

If anything, shows Caruana's quality. He's gone toe to toe with a monster of a chess player and matched him completely so far.

I feel like that's a bit strong.

e: I also feel like this opening choice is a bit ambitious from Carlsen.

I dunno. To me, Caruana has seemed very inferior this match, especially once out of opening preparation. It's not only that he hasn't shown the impressive defences that Karjakin showed last time, but he also hasn't generated any play in any game. In the occasions that Carlsen has blundered, Caruana still hasn't done anything with it. Tiebreak one was kind of an example of that. Carlsen got a very good position that just so happened to have a bailout tactic for Caruana. Carlsen obviated that tactic, and as soon as Caruana had to make another decision in the game he made the wrong one and lost.

He's seemed really out of sorts for a lot of the match, not playing the way he would have three or four years ago.

Yeah, really hard to predict for the whole match because 2014 Carlsen almost certainly would have won the first game and who knows how the match would have gone after that.

I see your point. Yeah, maybe. I honestly don't know what's up with that, if it's general fatigue or if he's slowing down or is prepping wrong.

Even slow Carlsen is pretty scary though.
