I like to pop in during the WCC and pretend that I know chess at all. From what I've seen from commentary, it looks like Carlsen is steering them towards another draw with those last couple moves?

And now we're into theoretical draw territory. RIP. He should've had this.

Okay, well, maybe "should've had this" is a bit strong. But it felt like he was always perpetually on the verge of victory. I guess that's to Carlsen's credit, then. It'll be a bit of a bummer if this is decided by speed chess.

This is Caruana's last chance, right? If this goes to the tiebreakers, he can't keep up with Carlsen in the shorter time controls.

So will ALL the tiebreakers go down on Wednesday, back-to-back if necessary?

MC Fruit Stripe posted:I'd kinda like a sworn affidavit affirming that someone will win before I dedicate any more time to this. Per the stuff folks posted up there, if they draw the last, final, ultimate match, then it's considered a win for black, and they're the champion.

Chess.com guys think that Caruana has a mate figured out, and he's working towards it.

Yep, yeah, this looks like this is swinging hard against Caruana. Oh dear.

Apparently, no, he's just thinking.

Carlsen's letting it slip! Caruana might pull a draw out here.

God, that three weeks of chess could be decided by one missed move...

Alright, here we go. Let's see if Caruana can unfuck this.

In the movie about Carlsen's life, the soccer incident will be in dramatic slow motion from a dozen angles, like a tragedy. Caruana's taking his time here...

Hou Yifan on Chess.com made me think-- has a woman ever challenged for the championship?

Hand Knit posted:No. Judit Polgar was the closest, ranking in the top 10 in the world in the early 90s. That's a bummer. I hope that we see more women in high-level chess in the future.
