It just misses out on a space in your top 5 but it's still a fantastic result for Marvel's Spider-Man, a game which bodes well for the future of the heavily rumoured Marvel Gaming Universe.

All of which leaves us with your top 5. You better get yourselves right, friends, because we're about to get started!

I noticed that Hitman was not in the also-ran list, there must have been some people who only played the first one and voted for that. Did Hitman 2 absorb all those votes by containing all of Hitman 1

We're about to take a look at your #1 game for 2018 but before we do there's a few other awards that we need to give out. First up is the developer prize for Most Games Listed which goes to Nintendo for 11 different entries across your lists. Next is the title of Best Developer for the developer that scored the most points across all of its games. And this award goes to Capcom! They really are back!

There's also a couple of goon awards that we need to hand out. The first award is 2018's Sharpest Nostradamus which goes to the goon that came closest to picking out your final top 10. And this title goes to... MMF Freeway! Would you believe they picked six out of ten games including all of the final four? And conversely we also have to recognise 2018's Biggest Hipster for the goon who's list ignored the most of this year's beloved games. And that award goes to... Rarity! Wait, what? That can't be right.

Anyway, let's put the preamble to bed and celebrate Something Awful's Game of the Year for 2018!
