Asking some local senior police official to decide who should or should not be able to buy a gun is loving garbage. We have reams and reams of evidence that this means it will turn into making sure only the "right kind of person" is armed. You're the opposite of skeptical. You are attributing the more aggrivated charge as some kind of calculated effort to see the cop bear no consequence for their actions as opposed to the proper charge for what occurred.

People were pissed when the cop was (incorrectly) charged with manslaughter. Not they're pissed at the correct charge is being filled. A jury trial is always something of a coin flip - let's not attribute these decisions to malice unnecessary

You want to be a loving warrior, go to loving war. You are supposed to protect and serve, not be an occupying force, intimidating your own communities, so you can play out the fantasy of being something you loving aren't. All the thin blue line poo poo is just feeding into this dumb rear end belief that it's them and everyone else, so they act like soldiers patrolling through Ramadi instead of peace officers protecting their communities.

The obsession with violence and the way it's tied to masculinity in this country has really done a number on us. Carrying a rifle and having body armor doesn't make you a real man, knowing when and how to use those things is what makes you a real loving man(or woman, either way).

Also, maybe the government doesn't need to give DoD surplus war machines to the sheriffs department of every one horse town in bum gently caress Iowa. Officer Dipshit doesn't need a Striker to stop kids vandalizing the loving Taco bell.

Hi there, would you like to try some spicy products?
In case you've missed it, the French have been tearing it up over fuel prices and steep cost-of-living increases for a bit now. In the last couple of days, they've been giving Paris a pretty good torchin'.
While the core of the yellow-vest movement advocates for peaceful protesting, as things go, protesters tend to have mixed feelings about police presence and policy, and poo poo's turned increasingly violent recently, culminating in yesterday's a-torchin'. 160 fires started, six buildings and countless cars torched, and this isn't in some out-of-the-way district of the struggling working class, this is next to the Arc de Triomphe.

A friend of mine has been going to the protests for a couple of weeks, and the poo poo she posts on Facebook is turning increasingly scary.

There are also a whole bunch of extremely unfortunate pictures of cops going absolutely ham that are adding fuel to the fire. I'll try to find some more from my friend's feed.

Potatocam video, but try to spot the moment it occurs to the cops that they done hosed up:

The "leaders" of the movement (quotation marks because it's not exactly like they're running a centrally-managed operation over there) have been catching flak for right-wing extremists surfacing in the riots, so Macron's government has tried to claim the political opposition is behind the protests, which is disingenuous at best.

Well yeah, Macron's the guy running the government? He's the guy that hosed with their benefits and increased the fuel tax.

Sure the protests have been going on for over a year, iirc the first big cut to benefits was late December last year, and people were pissed off for a while, but poo poo's really been going off the cliff since the fuel tax increase and the massive tax cuts announced some two to three weeks ago. The cuts were claimed to be aimed at revving up the economy and benefiting employers and employees, but you can pretty much guess who's getting the better end of that deal. And to cover the cost of the cuts, Macron capped pensions, cut welfare and slashed public sector jobs.
