Our contention is that gun owners are mostly immature history nerds who target shoot for fun.

We support universal background checks, a ban of the sale of bump stocks, reducing the NFA stamp tax to $25, and re-authorizing the importation of US firearms.

Something like the UK model would work, though it'd have to not be police based. The basic idea is "Do you need it?" (you get it, this is a rifle rarely, mostly a shotgun or a pistol if you're in the middle of nowhere), "Do you want it?" (don't ask for a goddamn machine gun, in this case, it's pretty much fine if you want a rifle, depending). Pistols are a no, shotguns are a yes, and if you've got one of those, just be careful because if you gently caress up we'll be annoyed.

I'm not 100% happy with it though as I've always wanted to go rifle / target shooting and I can't. My parents used to back in the day. It used to be a working class sport.

My graduate school hosed up my insurance enrollment and I didn't have dental when I thought I did. So I had a filling break and had to get an emergency root canal / crown. All in all it ran about $4500. I was only pulling in about $2k / month after taxes in grad school and had no real savings to speak of. I spent the next 8 months living on essentially rice and beans etc just to get back to normal and make the rest of the payments.
