The real infuriating thing about the Piggy James thing was that they had done the same thing to Molly Holly years before.

She also lost the feud in the long run, and I don't recall her ever once defending herself against their insults, just breaking down in tears every time.

I'm expecting the Pillman home invasion in the other storyline bracket. Interviewing his wife on Raw immediately after he died was scummy as gently caress too.

From memory, Mickie did beat LayCool and put them in their place... but in a symptom of an ongoing issue that would only get worse, the feud then bizarrely just picked up again like 2 weeks later for no real reason and LayCool basically came out on top that time.

It was really, really weird and gross. I remember defending it at the time it first started because LayCool were clearly meant to be idiots and the notion that Mickie James was fat was ludicrous, but by the time they were done it was one of those,"THE END! NO MORAL!" situations.

Yeah Mickie won i think something got dumped on Laycool (who were an awesome team lets not get away from that fact) but then as you said like a week or two later its as if that never happened. Which i guess is classic WWE and they remain the world wide leader in sports entertainment to this day.

Was it the Piggy James angle where the commentators said Mickie wore clothes from Lane Bryant, or was that different time?

might of been the granny panties angle with molly holly but maybe not either way both sucked and the molly one was worse because she's the nicest person in wrestling ever.

Mickie has admitted she was difficult to deal with at the time and she was drinking heavily at the time hence the weight gain. Was overtly messing around with Cena and management didn't like too.

In summary, WWE was clearly in the right.

I know it gets said over and over again. But WWE handling work issues by maliciously making GBS threads on and humiliating their talent in front of millions over and over again is some real bullshit. Suspension? Mandated counseling? No. We're gonna call you fat on national television and have the mean girls eventually kick your rear end, should fix you right up.

Wasn't this immediately before her departure from the company as well? So basically she was called fat a bunch of times, lost, and disappeared for years.

Man, the on-screen stuff is funny stupid garbage. (Comparatively)
The off-screen stuff just makes me think 'all of this has contributed to making them a global entertainment superpower, they seldom suffered any consequences for any of it, none of us can do anything about it and it makes me wonder if there's any point to actually being a good person'

A lot of the on screen stuff isn't funny. I get no laughs from women, gay people and black people being humiliated because Vince's sense of humor is hosed. I've not listened yet but hopefully Vince essentially humiliating Chris Kanyon into suicide makes it.

I know some people laugh as a coping mechanism in some weird ironic thing, but I've found that I sorta hate that poo poo. It's one of the reasons why I stopped watching WWE; if I have to treat your product like I'm on an episode of MST3K to get through it, that's not good. Wrestling is already ridiculous, if I have to add a layer of irony to enjoy it, that means they hosed up.

That is a good perspective to take.
But for me, listening to the podcast. Listening to MRT and Epistasis list down the 32 backstage offenses WWE has done makes this side of the bracket actually look like MST3K in comparison. Which is the real point I was trying to make.
Which is hosed and sad.

I can't even enjoy wrestling on an ironic level anymore. WWE has ruined even that for me. I just want to see the fuckers responsible suffer consequence. But that won't happen because we're being devoured by an amoral void.

I understand that but the problem is that when WWE is bad, it's often unwatchable because of the hosed up stuff they do to try and get heat.

I'm not talking about pushing people I dont care for.
That's fine, it's their company and no wrestling company is gonna push my guys 100% of the time. But when they try and be controversial, it's almost always crap. I should have specified this. My bad.

percy would have liked his death exploited to a degree while reid flair was an unknown in that regard but he was certainly not a long-time worker. That probably explains the massive gap between those two similar situations. however, telling the brown man to go be racist is underrated if you think about why vince would want that rather than solely looking at it as using racism to get heat. It is incredible that these are play-ins.

Their ratings are sinking, and the indies continue to do good business, so no, I'm not. Not only that, but a lot of the WWE fans who stick around are sticking around because of individuals they enjoy watching despite the bad storytelling, or because they don't want to seek out other wrestling and WWE is the most accessible still.
