This is loving stupid. I didn't start watching wrestling because I needed a dose of camp, I wanted athleticism, spectacle, and fun characters.

I’m by no means here to defend WWE, but it’s ok if people like frivolous things for the reasons you hate them. This seems like a weird thing to get upset about.

If it was just the “Eddy’s down there, IN HELL” line (which I think is the intent) and not ALL of the Eddysploitation then yeah HHH/Booker is way worse. But my brain refuses to separate that one Randy Orton line from the totality of shittiness that followed for like a year after Eddy died.

Ok so devil’s advocate here. The Owen Hart thing was an accident (a preventable one, born out of recklessness and disregard, but I don’t think Vince McMahon willfully killed Owen Hart). Not paying road expenses is one of a zillion labor abuses that has benefited the company’s bottom line for years and years. So if we’re just talking “sleaziest business practices” then for sure it’s road expenses. If we’re talking “shittiest thing WWE ever did” then yeah, Owen, no question.

Labor abuse is a thing that really pisses me off and it’s insane how many things this company has done that I find more offensive than the way they exploit their workers.

More than 40 people voted for road costs over Owen’s death. If you think per diem for dinner is more important than letting a man die due to negligence in a stunt, you’re a loving idiot.

Ok I get your point but surely you see that this is really reductive yeah?

Plus some people just always root for the underdog, whaddaya gonna do?

Or the time Cryme Time introduced a George Bush impersonator and stole his watch (?). His response was to say to the police "Arrest those ni- I mean, people!!".

WWE, masters of satire.

I don’t remember this at all but it sounds like the point of it was that George Bush is racist, which is a valid point to make.

How many black wrestlers haven’t been saddled without some sort of stereotype gimmick at one point or another in the WWE? Cedric Alexander is the only one I can think of off hand.

As a thought exercise, there’s Bobby Lashley, Sasha Banks, Koko Ware, Butch Reed, Zeus, Alicia Fox, the Boogeyman, Naomi, Ricochet, Apollo Crews, Titus O’Neill, Maven, Jason Jordan, Keith Lee, David Otunga, MVP, and Velveteen Dream (I don’t think mimicking a specific black person constitutes a stereotype gimmick?)

I used a pretty loose definition of stereotype so stuff like Reverend D-Von and (ugh) Shelton’s mama would count. Booker T was always just sort of a dude I think? But they’ve definitely used his race in obviously uncool ways. I also welcome anyone letting me know about lovely gimmickry of any of the above that I might have forgotten about.

I would include the Rock, Mark Henry, and D-Lo Brown because their characters in and of themselves are fine, but the Nation of Domination stuff is. . .problematic.

Bob Holly needs to be on the list for his treatment of rookies and jobbers and I can't believe Stephanie's not been nominated yet. Oh and Edge for the whole Lita thing.

Infidelity is certainly uncool, but I dunno that consenting adults having an affair can even sniff the top 64 when you look at what else was going on around them.

This may be recency bias, but Rich Swann and Enzo Amore surely deserve consideration.

If this does go outside of WWE, Jose Gonzalez would probably be a good add. Murdering another wrestler in the shower is pretty lovely, I’d say.

And if my understanding is correct Carlos Colon was pretty involved in covering it up.
