Repository for the 2018 mid-years nominations

Get in quick with your nominees for what you think are the worst of the worst political cartoons of 2018. Simply post your nominees, and in a week, the voting will begin. Please note this is simply the nomination process, not the actual voting thread, so if you see the cartoon you wanted to post is already up, posting it again won't give it better odds of winning. Either go with a new one, or leave it blank if nothing else gets a reaction from you.

If you have any questions, or suggestions for new categories, either PM me or reply here.

Changes:

Tragedy has been split into four parts, with Parkland replaced by Mass Shootings in general. All responses trying to demonise the survivors would still fall under the mass shooting category, but this would also allow some other events to enter into it too. In addition, we have worst response to the hurricanes and floods, and worst response to the out of control wildfires, and its really depressing that both need their own category in the same year.

Three new categories have been introduced, Most baffling and Inexplicable, Dumbest attempt to predict a red wave election, and Worst attempt to minimize Dem victory in the House. If need be, the later two will be rolled into Worst Election Cartoon. Also note that Most Incomprehensible is not the same as Most easily Reinterpretted, its where you can't even tell what point, if any, the cartoonist was trying to make.

In addition, Worst Rape Apologia has been brought back, due to, you know, :beer: With that being said, do not think you need to strictly stick to Kavanaugh as the subject matter, any cartoon inexplicably defending any rapist deserves this.

What would the category for Brexit even be? At least from an outsiders perspective, the cartoons all seem to be just restating that this poo poo is hosed, and going to get more hosed. So do we look for most optimistic Brexit cartoon? Most pessimistic? Ugliest Theresa May?

Its a cartoon declaring solidarity with and respect for CNN as defenders and informers of the citizens, with George Washington approvingly standing beside the free press.

From the timing alone it was inspired by the mailbombs, but aside from that... it's like reading tea leaves. It doesn't reference the threat in any way, or use any standard support/solidarity imagery, and... why Washington, specifically? And just as the dollar bill cameo? He isn't usually associated with a free press (Franklin would make more sense), and he's just.... floating there. ~~Like in my dreams.~~

If you're actually looking at crime statistics, the logical conclusion there would simply be to focus gun control on handguns instead of rifles - which would be just as unappealing to the NRA. Now that I think about it, that sounds like it could be a good premise for a political cartoon.

What were the arguments for that? Cause from my perspective, if it was in the thread, and it left a visceral negative reaction, and was made in the year 2018, that seems like all it requires to qualify.
