BatB made the most out of any of the live action remakes, and it got good critical reviews as well. It's just that in the interim since its release people have cooled on it.

Does anyone else automatically read BatB as Brave and the Bold and get briefly confused?

So. Let's say, theoretically, that someone were to rip a DVD screener of Ralph Breaks The Internet, and then that someone were to track down some subtitles in a foreign language, run them through Google Translate, and then include them with the DVD rip. And then you downloaded and watched it.

If you did (again, hypothetically), you might get something amazing:

No, but I read PoC as Pirate of the Caribbean and it makes Facebook comments really weird sometimes.

The only thing I didn't like about Spiderverse is that for most of the runtime I worried they were accidentally playing the 3d version by mistake.

For my second viewing of Spider-Verse, I had no choice but to book us for 3D tickets. But we all came out thinking it was worth it.

Yeah, this. It seems to be a minority opinion, though, and I'm honestly not sure if it just means that our vision is going or what.

at work the other day we literally had someone come out to tell us that we had the 3D on for his movie. once i figured out which theater he was in and which movie he was watching I told him it was a design choice that is supposed to look that way, and it definitely isn't really in 3D because that theater isn't even outfitted for it.

this was not the first time, either.

This seems surprisingly dodgy. The crediting systems in place around films and things have always seemed really rigid, I would have thought if your designs were used for something you'd get credit for it

Normally I'm skeptical of these, but this one is pretty obvious, and Bilby felt very much like a repurposing of another plan (which a cursory look at Larrikins promo material shows it is). I hope he gets credit.

I feel it could have been a hilarious twist in Mulan if Shang were actually closeted. He fell in love with Ping, and when he realises she's a woman he's all "Awwww... Dammit. I thought I'd finally found someone who understood :("

You've got guts! Come to my village, I'll buy you lunch.

Everything else about the movie sounds great but all of this just confirms how much I hate the way it looks in motion.

I'm seeing it tomorrow and I'll try to give it a fair chance instead of just judging it by out-of-context snippets, but I don't know how much it's going to change my impression.

The only thing that bothered me with Spider-Verse is when they faked pen lines on the faces. Stuff like putting a vertical line next to the nose to simulate the depth. But when the face turn the mark went with it. So it's just a line on their face. It works in still images, but in motion it doesn't make sense to be there, and it is my own irrational nitpick.

The movie was awesome though.

I dunno, I liked that. The whole aesthetic of the movie was built around what it would be like to actually exist within a comic book, with the Ben Day and Kirby dots, and onomatopoeia, and narration boxes. Like how Ang Lee tried to make Hulk look like a comic book put to film, with panels, transitions, freeze frames, but Spider-Verse takes it one step further. The lines went a long way towards differentiating this movie’s comic book aesthetic from a simply a computer animated film.

How to Train Your Dragon 3 has been open in Australia since 3 January (I’m seeing it this Saturday), how come America doesn’t get it until 22 February?

In fact America is nearly the last country to get it, wtf: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2386490/releaseinfo

Sometimes that just happens. Wreck It Ralph 2 doesn’t open in Germany until Jan 24th. The MCU films seem to open in the UK a week before the US. Just weird foibles.
