Is QCS a forum that people are regulars in? I thought it was for random “this style sheet is broken” or “unban me I won’t post furry porn anymore” posts?

A new dedicated site tech support subforum had to be created recently to handle the former type of complaint because it was getting lost in the chaos.

I can't remember which particular forums civil war that was at the time, though.

Does nobody just wear their top three anymore? When I was in it was all but required to do well on a dress uniform inspection to get one of those custom super-flat jobbies, but for the working uniforms it was top three and forget the rest. I don't think I bothered with assembling my own past that once I got more than three ribbons anyway.

Or is that just a Navy thing?

Truthfully what I’m probably going to end up doing is what I posted about a few weeks ago. Getting a small pickup truck (2000-ish Ranger size) and setting it up to go camping.

I could probably combine the two things and spend the next 18 months planning a bunch of camping trips. It seems more reasonable and easy to plan.

As a driver of a 2000-ish Ranger I think this is a much better plan.

I don't know if anyone makes a non-smart tv anymore. I've been using Roku for years so I just went with a TCL since it's exactly the same except I don't need a second remote.

I did the same, but wound up with several remotes anyway due to the sound bar, blu-ray player, and the universal remote that wasn't a good fit for the Roku system after all.

This little beauty went a long way towards cutting that down: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07D5JDM3N

Babylon 5 also just got a remaster but I heard the mixed live/CGI bits didn’t make the transition well. Tough thing to do on a budget I’m sure

Way better than the DVD transfers so it's a worthy step up.

At least that's where the link took me. I watched enough to get it in my history to finish it tonight. Very thick Office vibe.

All of the Goes Wrong stuff is great. If you ever get a chance to watch a live theatre version of The Play That Goes Wrong, jump at it. I think it's touring the US at the moment.

The only time I've ever been called for jury duty I was 19 years old with a poo poo-rear end scragglebeard and long hair. I was the only person in the jury pool wearing a suit and tie.

I am about 90% sure I was the first person recused. Lawyers like to have an idea how a prospective juror is going to be leaning before the trial even starts, and nobody could tell which way I'd jump.

I think I've told this story here before but when I was growing up in the 80s my dad had an old MGB as a project car that he would tinker with occasionally when his depression wasn't too bad. He did manage to get it running at one point, and the next thing it needed was outside his shade-tree skill level or needed tools he didn't have or something like that, so he needed to take it in to a specialty garage to have it worked on.

He had Mom drive ahead of him in the typical mid-80s station wagon that all suburban families seemed to have at that time, and he followed in the MG so that he could get home. When they were headed back she told him that it was funny, she thought she'd lost him a couple times because when she looked in the rearview mirror she couldn't see the convertible when they were stopped at red lights and he was closer to the rear bumper. She joked that he should put a flag on it for visibility.

At that point Dad took a good hard look at bumper heights, road safety requirements, how badly the MG would get obliterated in an accident, and me being not that far away from driving age. He ended up selling the thing to another enthusiast for a parts car. It took me a long time to get over being mad about it because I liked working on it with him and was really looking forward to being able to drive it, but it was absolutely the right decision because it wasn't long after that trucks started expanding in size, minivans and SUVs and other higher riding vehicle classes became more popular, and it would have made the danger even worse.

In paleontology, the way to tell fossilized bone fragments from pieces of plain ol' rock is to lick it. Fossil bone sticks to your tongue because of tiny hole structures called tribeculae.

I can confirm this from experience.

As a member of the Getting Old Crew (TM), if you are having issues with tendons and/or arthritis, so far I have responded really well to supplementing with magnesium glycinate. I went from having a gangsta lean because of my left knee to an actual normal gait. Stairs give me trouble but I also just started a week and a half ago. And I still have some weight to lose but this makes it easier for me to be active. I am only taking 100mg, I could probably go up which I will experiment with in the future. If you look into it be sure to pay attention to the different types of magnesium, glycinate is supposed to be easy on the stomach and have a higher absorption. Whereas oxide is cheap and has a lower absorption. Citrate might be harder on your stomach. Disclaimer: IANAD, YMMV, ask your doctor if listening to an idiot on the internet is right for you.

Magnesium citrate is a laxative/stool softener. Use with caution.

Opinions vary on just where the Dune books stop being worth reading, but I've never heard anyone say "just push through the bad one(s) and it gets good again."
