I think Young Justice is supposed to be a separate imprint, right? So it must be another Earth...

...At least I hope so, because Conner Kent coming back sets off all kinds of alarms in my head that something bad might happen to Jon Kent (besides being written by Bendis heyoooo :rimshot:) because DC doesn't like multiple characters using one hero name.

I know that, I meant something bad. Like dying, or a heel turn, or getting back on that ship and heading to space forever; something that'd eliminate the (non-)issue of having two Superboys around

That was Riri in Iron Man but yes.

He did however end Spider-Man's plot with a new Sinister Six mid-fight with Miles falling off a helicarrier and then getting laid up in a hospital in an incredibly unsubtle nod to his own near-death brush with MRSA.

No, it was earlier. He contemplates quitting right before Bombshell calls him to save her (or Ganke tells him he's got to save her, I forget) so he gets to do the old "just when I thought I was out..." routine before taking off

In one of the recent Spider-Man cartoons they changed Miles's name to Kid Arachnid, and I think it happened around the same time as comic Miles wanting to change his name.

Yeah but as I understand it that was more of a merchandising move so they don't have to sell 2 different toys that both say "Spider-Man" (which is still stupid but whatever). Then again though, Marvel animation believes its audience is full of complete morons who can't understand the concept of, for example, 2 different Avengers shows at once. (DC animation isn't much better though, with the infamous Bat-embargo)

If it's the bit where he peeps his mom's boobs, an oedipal complex just builds character!

I dunno I thought maybe he just had a growth spurt, or at most maybe a few years? But jumping straight to 17 is too much imo.

I mean tbh I thought the whole "going to space" thing was stupid in the first place but I was willing to give Bendis the benefit of the doubt and see how things went... and I gotta say I'm not pleased.

But I've still been reading Superman, and now that the things that I don't like are actually happening (or are imminent) now's the time for me to bitch about it like a proper comic forum poster.

Yeah I don't think Bendis flat out ignores continuity/or creates plot holes so much as he has a specific way of writing characters and starts with a vision for his stories and if that's different from old characterization or *kinda* conflicts with old stories then get used to it pal.

Like, for example, it's not a plot hole that Lois and Jon agree to take off on a space adventure with Jor-El after he's already revealed himself to be kinda crazy, it's just stupid. (I'm working through a big backlog of comics and I can't say I'm a fan of his Superman)

That doesn't seem like a bad idea to me?

I get that having (a) Superboy on the Legion is both a good idea and a classic one, but I don't like it being this Superboy. Look, maybe I'm just holding onto the Gleason/Tomasi era a little too fondly but I didn't like it when Bendis aged Jon up* and I especially don't like the idea of him getting shipped off to the future. I liked Superman having a family, sue me. Aging his kid up and then sending him 1000 years away effectively destroys that.

*I didn't like it then, but I figured I could learn to live with it if it led to a good story. But so far the only story it's set up for is a bunch of Jor-El poo poo in Action which l could care less about, and for Lois and Clark to have spy adventures without having a kid around. Which like... I don't know, Batman has stories without Robin all the time so you can't say Superboy was a hurdle to letting Lois and Clark do their own things.
