It's Mark Jaynes now. Paul retired a couple years ago.

Ah yes, during the excitement of May, the IMS' most important month, let's schedule an Indycar race ... at a different track in the Indianapolis area.

I won tickets to carb day today though a contest — not saying this to brag, but rather to ask what the thread thinks in the best stuff to do at the track that day. I've been to plenty of practice / qual days over the years and the 500 itself multiple times, but if I've ever been on carb day itself, it was years ago and I was a little kid. I know there is a concert and the pit stop competition, but is there anything else I ought to check out or keep in mind?

Jack Harvey is loving awesome. He came and hung out with campers last night, I even watched Michael Shank drink a Hamms Special Light which was followed by the most incredible joke by IndyCar Medical Director Dr. Jeffrey Billows

What does Hamms Special Light and having sex in a canoe have in common? Both are loving close to water

So Rossi is going to have the Autonation "drive pink" livery for several races, including ones Jack raced this year with that sponsorship. Any news on 2020 for him? I agree, he is loving awesome.

Autonation has said that they will still be sponsoring Jack next year which is really good news since Jack and that entire team are amazing.

This owns too — full 2020 season!

Robin Miller's racer article talks about the price speculation, where he says "nobody has a clue except Penske, Miles, Mitch Daniels and the board of directors"

What does Mitch have to do with all of this? Isn't he busy running Purdue?

Mitch Daniels, in addition to being on the Hulman & Co board of directors, is the trustee of the Hulman family trust. So, he probably had a fair amount to do with the transaction, financially.

Speaking of which, while every news source has said "nobody can know how much IMS went for blah blah blah" the property record cards for the parcels IMS sits on are publicly available from the Marion county assessor's office like any other property, and if you go onto maps.indy.gov you can drill down in the map view and find them. The land and the facilities added up together have been assessed at around 90-100 million for the past few years. As anyone who owns a house or a condo or whatever knows, those assessed values are often imperfect compared to how much a realtor or a mortgage company thinks a property is worth, but they are at least in the right ballpark in central Indiana, and presumably would be for IMS as well.

Think we'll see him for a 500-only entry, or does that ride preclude that even?

IMSA's 2020 schedule runs May 1-3rd at Mid Ohio, and May 29-30th at Belle Isle, so it's at least mathematically possible for Bourdais to run the 500. He's one of my favorites and this news is pretty disappointing, especially after what happened to Hinchcliffe.

the Chocolate Chip Ganassi Racing car looks kinda cool from the top, where you can see the mountains, but, yeah, every other angle is kinda boring.

Would it be too late at this point for Andretti to switch its engine lease to Chevrolet for the year?
