one of the big new features that hasn't been mentioned yet is electricity. so now you actually have to connect all those little 'production islands' you ended up in the earlier annos where you just got a storehouse surrounded by production buildings for them to work.

another new feature is that you can build dynamic museums and zoos where you can stuff all the random things you find and look at them whenever. this ties into the new attractiveness/pollution system (a bit like 2070s pollution but more involved i suppose) where you get tourists that give rewards if your place looks nice enough

also biggest islands in the series yet

if you click on a residence you can see bars you can hover over to see how happy they are with the amount and what the effects they are per commodity, that might help

So, after playing for most of yesterday, I've realized that I really, really don't like the farmer/worker/artisan mechanic. Repeatedly building houses, leveling them up as necessary, and supplying food/resources to each and every island feels like tedious busywork. I'd be fine with sector-wide populations, but having each and every island be its own separate entity kills the enjoyment of the game for me.

I suppose one good thing about the beta is that I know I'll hold off on buying 1800 for the moment and spending my time with 1404 instead.

its not in the beta but level 4 citizens unlock a commutor dock so people can work on other islands, not entirely sure how it works but it will probably help

game performance is a lot better for me in the open beta than the closed one

2205 is way worse than 2070, but honestly i wouldn't advise picking up both an older game and the new one at the same time. generally the anno's are all similar enough that it would probably lead to burning out on them

theyre gonna release a statistics building in free dlc that will probably help a lot

anyone else have way worse performance in the launch version than the open beta? feels like i lost al the performance upgrades from closed to open

its a good thing that second tab for happiness got mentioned, i hadnt noticed at all.

related: you can click on the citizen numbers at top to make them work harder and be unhappier and vice versa

when you have a production building selected, mousing over the % will give you a production time. its mostly 0:30 minutes or 1 minutes. that should give you all the info about production ratios you need

well i lost the campaign cause i didnt have a hospital and the epidemic hit my marketplace quickly

that pisses off every tier of citizen so i started losing both citizens and income in a quick death spiral

i don't think they actually mention any real nations or places in the series (ie: england as opposed to new world or old world) which basically makes the whole series take place in fantasy worlds as far as im concerned

I'd love the option to build a communist worker paradise. No other population tiers, the challenge is supplying to the whims of your populous as they might demand both fish and ragout. New world colonies demand the same standard of living as your old world pops, of course, so you have to establish an advanced shipping network. The Anarchist is your friend, everyone else hates how mean you are to captains of industry.

pf. everyone knows that when it comes down to it anarchists and communists never get along!

Are there any obstacles to just using a free trial amazon prime account to claim the new skins?
