To compare accessories to equipped accessories I think it used to be ZR, but now that's scrolling. Is there a button to switcy between accessories to compare?

Question, after my experience with Dead Cells where the more stat increase scrolls you collect the weaker you got past 15 or so because enemies scales with you and past you to the point where you shouldn't even bother collecting them, it's got me side-eyeing the golden chests. This seems like a pretty bum deal right? You can get that xp/jp/gold elsewhere without a toughness boost for enemies, right? Why would you pick this, or is it just a transparent trap option?
I always get two or three early to get some JP and give myself an early range of skills, then skip the rest apart from the ones I accidentally bump into. Past 5 or 6 you're giving enemies a few advantages which could be extremely lethal, particularly with some of the absolute bastarding multi-hit attacks the champions get late game

and yeah Dead Cells is a lot better now, I'd set it aside for a few months there in frustration at the scaling + the insane boss HP bars, picked it up the other day and am having a really good time - can't quite put my finger on everything that's improved, but enemy health in particular seems much more sensible, bosses in particular mare over (one way or another) in a couple of minutes.

Yeah I open Pandora's chests for the difficulty and early JP. They are supposed to drop good loot but I've honestly never seen it.

A popular trick is when you finish the game, to go back and open every single chest before starting NG+ and opting to not carry over the modifier.

I just trounced the final boss as primarily a summoner. As soon as the credits rolled the game crashed. Good fun, despite lots of weird quirks and bugs along the way. I'm looking forward to playing again after a patch or two!

Yes and no! I'm a bit annoyed that I paid a premium for a bug-riddled game. On the other hand it is fun and I don't have to sit at my computer to play it.

A world in which the game was equivalent on PC and Switch would be cool, but that world doesn't exist. 😕

The Casino missing from the Switch version bugs me a bit more than it probably should, because getting sets together without the vault basically means hit the casino in the base game.

Does nintendo still have some sort of "no gambling" policy, like when they made everyone remove pentagrams and religious symbols and whatever the hell else from all their games in the 90s?

No, they have in fact changed their policies slightly since the SNES era, 25-30 years ago

It messes with your ESRB ratings depending on how the casino is implemented.

There was a functional casino in the Gameboy James Bond game. I gambled just as much as I played the rest of the game.

Anyone know if the expansion is going to do much for the Switch woes?

I'd like to try this game and I'd like to play the portable premium for it but hearing about bugginess and missing features disheartens me.

Hey devs I got a suggestion for your wonderful game! I always consider having additional enemy info as an essential tool towards informed and clever gameplay decisions which is why I always choose the "see additional enemy info" feat when starting but would it be possible to have this feature as a game modifier as well?

I consider additional info like that essential and I'm sure there are others as well so it's be nice to have an additional feat slot freed up. Thanks for taking feedback and being so active in the thread!

Is there any rundown of the differences between the Switch and PC versions? I'm actually interested in owning both but curiosity has me wondering what sort of minor content/UI differences there are between the two. Why didn't the casino show up in the Switch version?

As far as I know, the casino was rejected by the big N because it contained minigames where you could gamble. The problem is that the casino also contained a shop of legendary items that could be won with the tokens gained in the minigames.
The Switch version also has a map area that will be only, included in the expansion in the pc version.

Excellent. Not a huge set of differences then and I hate minigames generally speaking, even for legendary prizes, so no loss there. Getting Tangledeep so cheaply in the Humble makes me want to support the devs further by also grabbing it for the Switch. It's one of those games that immediately feels like slipping on a comfortable pair of fuzzy socks.

The biggie will probably be PC players will be playing the expansion here shortly and Switch owners might have to wait.

I'm sure the Casino will probably get re-introduced to the Switch version at some point, they probably just need to like rename some games and put some anime emojis in there. Stardew Valley has a casino and got an E rating in the US, so they either ate some different ratings on other rating systems (there's quite a few now) or renaming Blackjack to CALICOJACK was legit enough.

So, I can't figure out how Soulkeeper works. It didn't seem like my counter of echoes was going up at all. I collected up to 4 but despite picking up several more, I seemed stuck on that number. I could never get the Resonant power to go off. I then called up a Shadow Spirit for 3 and then picked up a few dozen more echoes but the number seemed to stay the same on my character screen and the the icon on the UI never seemed to show a number either. What am I not getting about how the class works?

The number of souls was fickle for me too on Switch. It wasn't until I get the perk that gave souls from stamina/energy orbs that the counter seemed to work properly.

Yeah, my issue is on PC. I'm not sure if it's bugged or if there's something I'm missing. That character died, but I'll try one more in that class to see what happens.

I'm running a Floramancer / Soulkeeper on my first run. I just completely annihilated the second boss, and the level leading up to him was also pathetically easy. But now on level 12, going through the ruins, I am getting destroyed, and I find I'm not doing any damage. Is there something I'm missing?

Well, I remember a difficulty bump around that floor, but it's hard to say what you are doing wrong (if you are doing something wrong in the first place). Check the previous floors, maybe you skipped a side area by mistake. Do a few rumors if you can. Are you using the dream orbs you are getting? You should have a few already. You can always 'cheat' a bit and go back to the first bifurcation in the game and play the other path you didn't use to advance (so Old Amber Station or Fungal Caves), to gain an extra level.

For anyone that has experienced dpad issues, were they *only* on menus? Or did they manifest in regular gameplay as well?

I never noticed them in the gameplay, although I never used the dpad to navigate the game world. They were a problem in menus the longer the game was open. The issue always went away if I rebooted the game so I got into the habit of closing the game software every time I was done playing. Once I did this I never had issues again.

Based on my experience it seems connected to the console being put to sleep with the game running. I had a few sessions during which I launched the game, played 2-3 hours at a time, and never had an issue with the dpad in menus.

When I was having problems it was during the week or two I was primarily playing at work on my lunch break; ie playing for 30 min and putting my console to sleep until the next day.

Sorry for the rambling nature of this post.

Do you have the gear affix (of Familiars?) that boosts summon strength on everything? That helps a lot with pure summon builds.

stop staring at me

There's a Thai temple near my alma mater that does Sunday brunch, and it's actually a pretty well known local thing. You don't pay for food, but instead make a donation of money to the temple to get some tokens, and then exchange those tokens for food. I'm pretty sure it's all to skirt some kind of restaurant regulations or something.

What I'm saying is maybe you can get around the ESRB with some kind of bullshit "it's not really gambling" justification :v:
