coming to poo poo this thread up with my attempts at generative krautrock here's a 25 minute experiment where I let a pure data patch play random midi and alternate between different melodies, i tweaked the bass and drum parts later https://soundcloud.com/trent-hawkins/20200101a?in=trent-hawkins/sets/2020-weekly also the key bit about synths and Live is that you got to record and build upon loops, once you get the hang of it then even a monophonic synth is not limiting you really.

echinopsis posted:are you talking about prerecorded stuff or live music ? live music, like building up a track loop by loop and you can always use your synth as polyphonic MIDI controller (meaning more notes than just one) with any number of VSTs or built in ableton live instruments endless encoders means that you can just keep turning the knob forever in one direction - it's computing the value digitally so there is no restriction to a real world thing (i.e. how a guitar tone knob can only go so much) actually, sorry for barging in on your thoughts like this, i dont really know whats your situation gear wise and what you even want to be able to do with music stuff 4lokos basilisk fucked around with this message at 19:11 on Jan 13, 2020 |

echinopsis posted:I like it thanks a life hack for mono synth is arpeggiator + delay effect. especially lush if you choose random arp mode in ableton. playing a chord with a beat delay and arp both set on 16th notes now means it sounds polyphonic in a way

NoneMoreNegative posted:Fornax Void recently released the final version of their Cyberspace Database album, you can listen for free a few times or buy the whole thing for as little as 1EUR. Not every track lands, but there's 55 of them and most of them are excellent background ambiance. this sounds a lot like soundtracks for games i would definitely want to play, and yep this is very relaxing listening thanks also re-using this post to shill my this week's track which is actually a mini-mix https://soundcloud.com/trent-hawkins/20180623-30-v2-minimix
