Couple of projects I've done over the years, newest to oldest. All are technically active, though t:p.p hasn't had a (publicly) released track for like 4 years: YOUNG JAGUAR. Electronic music, first demo EP dropped today - Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/young_jaguar/sets/four-encounters Slothful Bong. Stoner/Doom/Sludge, Djent, Modern Metal (pretty much all instrumental https://soundcloud.com/slothful-bong the:pawn.project. All sorts of stuff, but mostly electronica and progressive hard rock (old stuff from like 2005-2015) - Bandcamp + youtube of a remix: https://thepawnproject.bandcamp.com/album/disassociative https://thepawnproject.bandcamp.com/album/still-breathing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNgzJPeHIhc Slothful Bong fucked around with this message at 01:43 on Feb 4, 2019 |

Did a couple of new tracks I'm pretty happy with. Peak is a song about climbing mountains, the mirror is about the terrible/wondrous things you see, hear, and imagine while looking at your reflection in the infinite black lake. https://soundcloud.com/young_jaguar/peak https://soundcloud.com/young_jaguar/the-mirror

baby puzzle posted:This started out as a very cheap and crappy ghost-produced track that I bought to use in my game, but I'm very happy with what I've turned it into: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pney79jkDkU You gonna release an album of the SEQUENCE STORM stuff? I boot it up sometimes just to listen to Chaos and Japan, haha.

This is some dope poo poo! Gotta give it a proper listen, but I'm really enjoying what I'm hearing! To contribute some more of my own music to the thread, here's a new track. Double post to keep things cleaner: I normally wouldn't do this with my YOUNG JAGUAR project, but MrSargent has inspired me - here's a WIP track I've got going! World-inspired instrumentation, with a western song structure. It's pretty much a love letter to my other experimental project, the:pawn.project, but with all the things I've learned in the intervening 15 years since that one started. And also I got a NI Komplete update (from 4 to 12, lol) a few weeks ago, so I've been going hard on all the new synths and samples I have access to. It's called pillows. It's a continuation of the theme I did with cushions, and will likely keep going for another couple of songs until I have an EP I can call comfortable things. WIP status: I'm mostly happy with the arrangement, mix is pretty good to my ears (minus piano dynamics being a little iffy, might adjust), but I'm at a loss as to where to go next. Not sure if I should go full Beck and add guitars, or some sort of lead line. I generally prefer a lack of proper lead instruments in my music since I'd rather just jam over it if I want that, but I know that's not for everyone. Will likely do a little drum tweaking since that can always be better (and it's the first time I haven't used superior, so I'm still learning how all the NI drum stuff works). This is also probably the most "subdued" mix I've done in a very long time, not all brickwalled or pumped to hell, so I'm in semi-new ground here. Level balancing is a lot harder when focusing on background/quiet instrumentation behind louder stuff, who would've thought! Here's the track (private for now, until I've decided there's no more I can do): https://soundcloud.com/young_jaguar/pillows/s-7mAjG Slothful Bong fucked around with this message at 14:33 on May 9, 2019 |

A couple more tracks from me as well (stuff from April/May of this year, so don't yell at me baby puzzle, wrapping up the other thing today/tomorrow) Super Quantum Cat Position is part of an (eventual) EP of four songs with the same title, based on my cat and her ability to be everywhere at once. Treehopping is a continuation of the theme of "childlike exploration", as heard in peak and snow trek. https://soundcloud.com/young_jaguar/super-quantum-cat-position https://soundcloud.com/young_jaguar/treehopping

AccountSupervisor posted:This is really dope. Just followed you and just listened to "peak" as well. Really dig your sound! Thanks, that's very much appreciated! I just checked out your soundcloud stuff as well, and I'm thoroughly enjoying it! Clean mixes with lots of breathing room, great arrangements. The synthwave part near the end of Electrojams is so my thing, awesome work!

Rupert Buttermilk posted:It's likely Soundcloud, but to make sure, what does it sound like after it's exported and before it's uploaded? I have this issue with any track I do that starts on the 1 - soundcloud seems to cut off the first half second or so during normal playback (though if you scrub you can get to the beginning). It's annoying and I always forget to add a beat or two of silence first, so whatever lol.

Mistayke posted:POST YOUR TOP THREE PERSONAL FAVORITE SONGS THAT YOU WROTE/PERFORMED (IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER). Haha holy poo poo man, this is a goddamn challenge here. Since I have 3 active solo projects, I’ll pick one from each. Can’t say these are my favs since I write the soundtrack to my life and favorites change constantly, but these 3 represent some serious moments of my life. the:pawn.project - black spirals. Trip hop influenced darkness. Slothful Bong - Descent. 5/4 time sludge? Not sure genre, but it’s heavy af. YOUNG JAGUAR - snow trek. Synthwave? Electro? Tripwave? I dunno lol. Was one of my first songs to incorporate motifs from another, leading to a bunch of newer songs referencing old ones in a way I’d never done before.

God drat there’s a lot of goon music! Got to as many of you as I could tonight. And I’m in for any cat fundraiser. My cat influences nearly all of my music now, and a loss of her would be heartbreaking Mistayke- The mixing on Laid Back Front and Center is nice and crisp, even though SoundCloud. Not entirely my type of jam, but it sounds fantastic! Brawnfire- I dig your playing on little stitch, sounds really sweet all around and gives me a nice warm nostalgia. im_sorry- Taking a cute photo of my tortoise: Lol when the drums come in, this is so not what I expected. Good job at keeping me hooked. So Math - You nailed the shmup thing so perfectly on Flight-700. The wild vibrato, the insanely fast pace and weird power metal feel. It rocks! SpaceGoatFarts - Bells is right up my alley. I saw Caterina Barbieri and Tim Hecker last year in Amsterdam, and this gave me the same vibes as that show. Felt like I was along for the ride, seeing where your sounds would take my mind. Really appreciate everyone who gave my stuff a listen too! I’m deep in some weird super low tuned metal thing right now tbh, so probably not everyone’s cup of tea. But if I’m able to figure it out, I’ll be combining that with my electronic stuff to make something even stranger! Slothful Bong fucked around with this message at 04:40 on Feb 29, 2020 |

So I somehow totally forgot about this guy, but for y’all that dug black spirals, here’s a nine inch nails remix I did back in 2007. YouTube only since I’m not even sure I have the album it was on anymore and tracking it down is tough now, but if I find either the song or the album, I’ll toss up a link! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNgzJPeHIhc

Gonna pimp it here since I'm sure Baby Puzzle won't mind - new Sequence Storm DLC is out, featuring music from our very own 2DCat, Endochrome, and me! Gave it a run this morning, looks like I was the first on the leaderboards (on easy mode at least), so my crappy scores are the ones to beat!

Been a hot minute since I’ve posted anything, but I recently did some soundtrack work for a VR game, Blobkin Blaster. https://open.spotify.com/album/0rlOA1VTb4MdpcuCOb3HBa I did tracks 12-20 and 26, rest were by Caleb Winters. It’s also on Apple Music if anyone prefers that. Was an interesting process - didn’t have a ton of time (couple of weeks) as I work for the studio as my day job, so the music was done “after work”. I had to figure out how to knock out short tracks quickly, instead of my usual “get 70% done, sit on the track for a year until I finish”. I also got to score the release video, and man! Cueing to action is so bizarre, had to figure out melodies, rhythm and tempo that were pretty fluid yet felt normal, and I have infinitely more respect for people who score now. I definitely want to do more soundtrack work in the future, was neat to approach music this way! Electromax posted:I tried making a tune last night with a weird-ish cadence/time signature, KORG made this somewhat tricky at times but it was fun trying to challenge myself with something a bit more off-kilter. This is neat! Makes me think of Castlevania for some reason, specifically the DS ones, and anything that does that is awesome in my book!
