Hi! I'm some sort of folk guitarist working slowly on my first EP. I also play some piano and just started picking up violin. Is there a violin-specific thread or discord on this forum? I found a guitar one and a piano one, but my violin journey has been a bit on the lonesome side.

Sup! I don't know if this is the appropriate thread for it, but I've been working on a number of songs I would eventually like to include on my "Debut EP". I like to record my progress every now and then, and get feedback whenever possible. Here's a brief section of a song "Stitch" I wrote that will probably end up on the EP. https://soundcloud.com/user-443451412/littlestitch If you happen to take a listen, I'd love to know what you think!

Thank you! Here's another track I've been working on; (these all have lyrics by the way but I'm working out the instrumentals right now) I'm still having a bit of trouble with the tempo, so it falls out a couple times but I'm getting better! https://soundcloud.com/user-443451412/strange-december-variations-on-december And I'm an illustrator so I'm probably going to be doing my own cover art, but I would very much love to see your work, JacquelineDempsey! Edit: Another track I was playing with today, a bit of multitracking: https://soundcloud.com/user-443451412/verdegris Brawnfire fucked around with this message at 06:30 on Feb 10, 2020 |

MrSargent posted:Why would you tell me Bandcamp keeps "unfinished plays" stats. Now I'm about to be sad. I've started throwing up little guitar ditties on instagram for fun, and it breaks my stories up into individual "cards" of about ten seconds apiece. At the bottom of each of these cards you can see the number of people who viewed it. The drop-off from one card to the next is hilarious to see.

I liked the springy noises and feedbacky static stuff. I always like that poo poo. This was dark and moody. Nice. Really dig the haunting piano later on. Descent, eh, it's kind of metalish? Sadly metal's not my cup of tea but they are some tasty riffs. Effort recognized! Snow Trek was kind of slow and plodding to me at first but the adventure really pays off. The end is really cute, I don't know how else to put it.

There was some interest in the track I shared Little "Stitch". I recorded a slightly longer, more in-depth take today. This is entirely unproduced, just input from my piezo and mic rendered as a wav and uploaded to Souncloud. https://soundcloud.com/user-443451412/stitch-unproduced If anyone is interested, however, in mixing this or adding instruments or whatever the gently caress, I'd be only too happy to share the raw files.

JacquelineDempsey posted:So I know I'm a bit late to the party, but getting a bit of fan mail last night finally made me decide on My Three Tracks. If I can't decide what my 3 faves are, I'll let my teeny tiny fan-base do it for me! "Entomological Temple" gave me a very very real sense of dread and the feeling that something was behind me, so kudos if that's what you were going for. I'm still looking over my shoulder. drat you. I really dig "Oh Lord" and I'm getting down to it. Isn't making the feeling of someone being behind me go away, though. But lots of awesome sounds. Really loving kicks off around the 3:50-ish mark "Comforting the Meat"... You're really just adding to my sense of disquiet over and over again. Deep unease here. But very beautiful. I like the staticky, interference stuff. By the way, I'm listening on headphones and got some really weird sensations at that 4:00 mark you mentioned. I think my eyes started seeing vibrating colors. It sounds like absence surrounded by industry. All in all, you're loving weird and sinister and this is amazing stuff. A completely different type of music than I put out and likely ever could put out, and that's incredible. Anyhow, just to add a nugget of my own bullshit, I tossed together some lyrics for the song "Rosy" I've been working on. I may add some more verses and a solo and stuff to pad things out, but for now this is it. Be forewarned this is not mixed or produced or anything in any way, just me and my guitar. https://soundcloud.com/user-443451412/rosy-with-lyrics Edit: Actually, I played around with it some in Reaper. I don't know if it's an improvement or what... I think I could use a lot of advice in the music production end of stuff. https://soundcloud.com/user-443451412/rosy-with-lyrics-produced/s-AzYiE Brawnfire fucked around with this message at 06:29 on Mar 8, 2020 |

Hi guys! Although the guitar discord can rightly said to be "guitar-focused", our little community will also be running song challenges. If anyone wants to get in on them, our first one is aiming for april 1st and we're gonna be doing silly songs. After that, the challenges should be fortnight-long challenges. https://discord.gg/bRUeb32
