https://soundcloud.com/the_door_is_scary/driving-back-from-high-prairie I like how this one turned out. It was inspired by a repair job that took way too long and didn't go well, and I still had to drive for over two hours to get back home.

https://soundcloud.com/the_door_is_scary/taking-a-cute-photo-of-my-tortoise I took this really cute picture of Franky the tortoise on my new Minibrute 2, and I just had to make a song that would use it as a track image. Unfortunately, the track doesn't actually use the synthesizer, although I plan on using it if I can come up with an entry for Bonerjams 3.

My February Album Writing Month project is pretty much done.. I just need to fill a jar with preservative, crack open a pack of preserved lampreys, and take the cover photo. Once this is done, I'll upload it to Bandcamp, but for now, you can hear it at https://alonetone.com/spacehoers/playlists/jar-of-lampreys EDIT: It's on Bandcamp at https://spacehoers.bandcamp.com/album/jar-of-lampreys - name your price, but I'll be surprised if anyone actually pays for it. im_sorry fucked around with this message at 02:44 on Feb 23, 2020 |

JacquelineDempsey posted:Same thing here; if was me, I'd dipping those tracks in a whole lotta reverb sauce; they're good stuff but just sound kinda flat to me without more effects. But if you're shooting for a super-clean 80's style, then it's perfect. I did add some lo-fi/dirt effects to some of the instruments, but I held back when it came to adding effects to the whole track, since I was afraid I'd overdo it (and what I did add started to make my computer choke... I think I need to upgrade!!). I plan on making some more filthy sounding tracks in the future, especially since Mishby finally came out (https://freakshowindustries.com/mishby). JacquelineDempsey posted:Also, preserved lampreys are a thing?! Holy crap I thought I had some weird taste in food and album covers. My wife teaches biology - these lampreys aren't for eating. She had a jar of them in preservative that I was going to use, but it got knocked off of a shelf and broke, so we have to make a new one. She has some vacuum sealed packs of them in storage in her lab, so we just have to get a proper sized jar. I thought of using some other lab specimens for the cover (she has several containers of specimens, including a couple buckets of preserved horseshoe crabs), but she insists that it has to be lampreys. Edit: I ended up putting the jar on a shelf with a bunch of intestinal parasites for the picture. You can't really see what else is on the shelf in the square photo, but if I release a tape of this, I'll use the full photo as the cover. Thanks so much for checking it out! I'll check out your albums, too. im_sorry fucked around with this message at 03:14 on Feb 23, 2020 |

I was bored and threw this together over the past couple of days, and it was somewhat inspired by a cheezy 80s horror movie I recently watched called Brain Damage. I actually used my Minibrute 2 on this track. https://soundcloud.com/the_door_is_scary/my-buddy-aylmer

More stuff by me: https://soundcloud.com/the_door_is_scary/cleaning-scorch-marks-off-of-the-stove - The gasket in my pressure cooker needs to be replaced. https://soundcloud.com/the_door_is_scary/my-cat-has-an-evil-doppelganger - There's a cat in the neighborhood who looks exactly like Pat (although the other cat has an intact tail). This cat is apparently really nasty and attacks people (as opposed to Pat, who's really sweet), and I saw Evil Cat in my yard recently.

I've often wondered what would happen if I put some of my music up on Spotify or TikTok, but I've never used either of these platforms ever. I upload my stuff to Youtube, Soundcloud, and Alonetone, and I'm uncomfortable with doing promotion because I feel like my music really needs to be discovered by complete accident to be heard the way the artist intended, since that's basically how it came into existence. Lately, I've been pumping out tracks without much thought, sort of like journaling but with whatever musical equipment I happen to feel like firing up at the time. That results in stuff like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-7SioQ0Iis4 and https://soundcloud.com/the_door_is_scary/02-08-2024a.
