I just picked up a job working with coral reef restoration, seems like as good a time as any to start back on the antidepressants My video logs of my dives are starting to feel like they’ll be historical too, for species that will be extinct by the time I’m old. I’ll still fight the good fight and try to preserve some of what we’ve got, but barring some kind of miracle I think we’re grossly underestimating exactly how hosed we are.

BigDave posted:I started taking Wellbutrin two years ago to help quit smoking (it worked), but now I keep taking it as a kind of mood stabilizer. I was able to quit smoking in Afghanistan thanks to Wellbutrin. I looked at the cigarette that was going to be my last and just thought “what the gently caress am I even doing with this?” before throwing it into a burn barrel before it was half done. Stuff is amazing for that alone. I was already on a max dose Effexor so I can’t speak to how well it does stabilizing. I stopped taking it when I got out of the army, but lately I’ve been missing it and want back on it. When I get settled at my new job (I’ll be working for NPS in FL :woot: ) I’ll look into getting more from the VA. It isn’t well-studied in relation to scuba diving as far as I know, so I may have to change it up a little though.

Popsci tried to find which places will have a similar climate in 2080 to places you know now, and the result was kind of depressing. To keep your current temperature band, you’ll have to go ~500 miles north. That means FL gets tropical heat, NC will have temps more like FL now, and PA will be more like NC is now. https://www.popsci.com/2080-american-towns-climate

I get my shots every year. Even if they gently caress up the forecast and it isn’t as effective as it should be, you still get to carry that immunity to that strain forward for the rest of your life. If the numbers come up for something you’ve been exposed to/immunized against previously, well that’s just good fortune.

I was thinking so, based on my experience in an immunology class and a being pre-med major in general. None of the articles I’ve found back that up, though...and are only suggesting immunity of up to a year, if even that Depends on some things, but increase in age tends to run along with a decrease in immunity too. I’m around enough kids volunteering at an aquarium that I’ll likely end up being exposed, and I don’t want to be the one who brings it home to my 88 year old grandmother so it can kill her, so I still get it every year regardless.
