God Eater 3 and Wargroove are the ones I'm looking forward to this month.

Extella was just okay with a great soundtrack. Hopefully they have learned on the gameplay side since.

How's the music? The stuff in the trailers was not promising compared to the first game.

Title screen music from Extella is in contention with Dearly Beloved from KH for best title screen music.

I used to play a lot Warcraft of 3 back in the day, though I was never super great at it. Now though the thought of playing an rts seems actively unfun, particularly ones that lean in hard on the 300 APM micro every unit while managing your base stuff. That's stress I don't need. Shooters I've never been good enough to do anything more than the campaigns in, which means the genre is dead to me until Titanfall 3.

At this point I just play monster hunter, sometimes jrpgs, monster hunter, the occasional turn based strategy game, monster hunter, and I'm trying to play more fighting games but I'm terrible, can't pick a character or even game, and don't really have the amount of time needed to grind out muscle memory, let alone actual strategy.

It's not all that fun to play alone, possibly excluding the wing diver.

Though playing as the wing diver may be better than Anthem.

While true, the basics of Titanfall are solid enough that it could potentially be fun.

More likely Respawn won't be living up to its name, though.

Thinking about a Titanfall BR and honestly I can kind of see it working, though it would need a lot of rebalancing from the normal game. Time to kill would probably need a slight increase and titans would probably need to die to anti-titan weapons a lot faster. They would also need to make some of the crappier weapons suck less. But the movement on well designed maps could be enough on its own, and periodic titan drops anyone could get in with a good opening would be natural points for action to happen.

What it will probably be though is no titans at all on maps already in 2 with no changes except lazily distributed weapons, zero rebalancing, and they will leave in the smart pistol. The worst thing would be dying so fast that you spend more time loading than playing.

Just.. like... WHY a battle royale? For a studio with super strong design chops with a history of their releases getting overshadowed and suffocated by bigger titles in the same genre, why would they try to push into the genre with the biggest, most suffocating game in the industry right now?

Because EA wanted them to make a BR for some reason and doesn't give a poo poo what they're actually good at. Also when it flops it makes it easier for them to close or sell off the company so quarterly profits go up.

Also I keep wanting to call it Apex Zenith because it might as well be called that for how meaningless the title is.

to be fair I think there is probably still lots of space to do cool stuff with battle royales, but they'd have to be made by someone not afraid to move more than a step away from PUBG/Fortnite

Similarly I'd like to see more takes on monster hunter style games. Not that the real deal is bad by any means, world is still the high water mark, but I appreciate the things that the other notable entries in the genre have done to differentiate themselves. Like even just a different setting is notable.

The real question is what is the next unscrupulous monetization scheme companies will try, assuming they are compelled to finally drop loot boxes.

I didn't play Titanfall 1, but as I understand rodeos were at least not basically always a mistake like they were in 2. And there were other class and gun balance problems besides, though not enough to really harm it too much.

The respawn system is a great mechanic. In other battle royales, if team members die there's always the awkward "well...you can keep going if you want...but maybe we should just quit and start over?" Because nobody wants to just sit there while the rest of the round plays out but also nobody wants to be the rear end in a top hat that forces their friends to quit when they're still alive.

Making your team members return to your corpse if they want to revive you forces them to stay in the action. So either they too die to the team that killed you, or they manage to get to your corpse and get you revived.

From my very statistically significant sample size of 2 games, in the one in which I died immediately and my teammates did not they left my corpse to rot, so I would not count on pubbies being good at the whole squad thing.
