T-spin doubles are important to learn because they're much, much more efficient with your blocks in terms of garbage sent/tetrimino used. It's also something that you can weave in the middle of play without needing to have stacked up for Tetrises. Getting a couple T-spin doubles needs only 4 lines but will clear a big chunk of your queue, whereas to do that with Tetrises needs a lot more tetriminos and leaves you vulnerable, as you now no longer have stuff to clear when the next wave of garbage comes. You need to spin in both directions because, depending on the direction you spin, you'll be able to "flip" your tetrimino and get it to places where you wouldn't be able to if you were spinning the wrong way. Also, you need to spin in the right direction if you want to do things like T-spin triples or otherwise fill gaps you otherwise wouldn't have been able to fill.

A 3-wide is much more efficient if you learn how to do it. Best is a center 4-wide but that's pretty difficult to do because you have to stack each side perfectly.

They're also harder to stack for than Tetrises and carry a lot more risk.

3-wides are better but more difficult. 4-wides in the middle are the most difficult, most risky, but can have huge payoffs, probably even better than constantly t-spinning. But you'd be a Tetris god at that point. It's HARD.

Argue posted:Should I make an anki deck or something to memorize common T-spin triple setups because christ I have been practicing in marathon mode for hours and I still have very little success in successfully setting them up, even after studying the patterns on the Tetris wiki. Set up like the basic setup, or as in setting up chains of multiple t-spins?

Argue posted:A bit of both. Sometimes I see a small region that I remember from the wiki as something that can be turned into a setup for a triple, but in the heat of battle I can't really visualize or recall the pieces I need to complete the setup. The wiki also has some techniques for cleaning up the mess you leave afterwards and I can't recall those properly too. T-spin triple? Those are a little more difficult/rare.. I think you should work on doubles, first. Those are much easier to learn.
