I seem to recall that Pfizer rejected the money offered by the feds because they didn't want to put up with the conditions attached to it (namely that it had to be made in the states) in part because there was a German/Turkish woman who'd been toiling away on RNA research for like 20 years and they wanted to do all the research in Germany.

Games-Workshop is in fact a great example. Because none of it is a production issue. Forge World/Specialist Games studio is siloed into it's own separate entity that competes with games-worshop proper creating a ton of internal organizational issues. Games-workshop can't expand production capacity because they ran into the limits of local infrastructure and can't expand if the local council doesn't build the infrastructure to support it. It's not a production issue but a shipping issue. Things are in fact not out of stock in Europe and England and the production can meet demands. Because all the production is localized in England but global trade is hosed they can't ship their stock to North America or Australia, so their product might be in demand in other parts of the world but they don't have any way of getting it there that's financially practical for them.
