Question the effectiveness of using 4 million to 10 million worth of missiles that ate up 800 mil to 1.2 billion worth of the interception weapons.

They didn't even intercept all of them, Iran's point was that they know how much throw weight they need to get missiles onto targets and next time they're not going to stop at a demonstration of the concept

Yeah, there were clear strikes across all 3 targets even if they were only had minor targets. If the Iranians can hit a pool house or whatever they can hit a battery or command post.

Black Thursday was a disaster, plain and simple.
We lost too many good people, too many planes.
We can't let that kind of tragedy happen again.

im just guessing it is "man this bomber would suck at doing a thing the PLA would never want it to do" because too many americans assume that because they're obsessed with invading mainland china that china must be obsessed with invading mainland usa.

That and/or their crew was too exhausted to continue, they have been at sea for 7 and half months and it will be 8 and half months by the time they get back to port.

nobody gives a poo poo about sailor morale though. If they're going back to port its because they ran out of something not easily resupplied or have mechanical problems that can't be fixed outside of home port

they could also have exceeded the budget for their deployment and are being pulled back because the command is broke, which would be very funny

Usually there is a cap of 9 months because at that point you start to get serious morale issues, it may have been ammo related or a fault, but the USS Eisenhower pulling out around now probably was going to happen anyway. We will see if anything goes to replace it because the George Washington is suppose to be circling around South America (I guess to avoid the canal), and the Roosevelt is in Thailand. Maybe the H.W Bush (yes that is a carrier)?

Gotta love the attitude of the people behind the instant dismissal of the Chinese H-20 stealth bomber:

- "The Chinese H-20 is less stealthy than our B-2 or B-21 so we've concluded it's totally useless lol!"
- "Uh, doesn't it just have to be good enough to do its job? Like, if you can get a good enough missile track to reliably engage a B-2 at 20 miles, but a less stealthy H-20 can be reliably engaged at 100 miles, isn't that still a huge problem if it's carrying 200 miles+ air launched cruise missiles or ASMs, since it'll be well outside your firing range when it launches those weapons?"
- "Please don't point out things like that, you're hurting our feelings."

The incredibly optimistic view is that they're just publicly blustering, but are genuinely quite concerned & actually doing something constructive behind closed doors. Then again...

Ardennes
May 12, 2002
It also creates a problem in the sense the Chinese will soon have a pretty advanced first-strike capability, if they can get into US airspace and start hitting facilities, anti-ballistic missile systems, bomber bases etc before the US can respond they are going to have an innate advantage.

I think both the Russians and the Chinese know one of the biggest dangers to global stability is the US, and they want to make very sure they can slam the US as hard as possible if they really start going off the deep end.

Yeah, the H-20 could be detected 100 miles out which means it will have big problems with US long range SAM systems such as …
