Miz explained why his dad never seemed proud of him in one of Miz/Shane's first promos + Miz was the one that lost the titles. It's one of the storylines that is well put together that they've got going on. "You people" is more of a crutch when they can't write for characters, which is odd since very rarely does "you people" need to be inserted into someone's promo. For example, people say Bryan "makes it work" but what really makes it work is that his character would actually say "you people". Becky's aborted turn didn't need you people. Shane doesn't need you people. It may just not be working for me the way it's working for you; I feel like the explanations have been extremely hollow and weightless compared to the things they've been undoing and it's made the various beats feel unsatisfying, but I also just sort of inherently reject any storyline about how Shane McMahon is an awesome asskicker who can do anything so it may have been doomed for me from the start
