The indies are dead. The wrestlers all signed with AEW or are property of the WWE Performance Center. EVOLVE is now AA NXT. It is not an indie. People will probably try to talk about it in this thread but they should be banned for doing so. BEYOND is planning ritualistic suicide. They stopped running weekend events and in April will start running a weekly streaming show. It will air on https://independentwrestling.tv The first show features Masato Tanaka vs David Starr and SCU vs Team Pazuzu. Future episodes feature: quote:ORANGE CASSIDY & ??? VS. JORDYNNE GRACE & ??? PWG had trouble selling tickets to their last show. They are doomed. If you click on their roster page it takes you to merch because AEW and WWE signed everyone. So it goes. Their last show was 200 and I don't see any announcements of future shows on their twitter. NOVA Pro is legitimately dead because they stopped paying talent. They pulled out of their WM weekend date which will now be an Orange Cassidy show and then cancelled their March 30th show. RIP. Or maybe they are trying to move it and pretend they aren't dead. There is conflicting info out there. CZW CZW has been in a weird downward spiral the last few years. It's all karma for them cop calling on GCW. The Mancer Mance Warner won the CZW title in an uninspiring Cage of Death match, The Rep are the tag champions and Jordan Oliver is the Wired Champion. Their next show WrestlePro vs CZW on WM weekend but their next full CZW show is Best of the Best on 4/13. Mancer will defend against MJF who was forced to vacate before COD. quote:There can only be one! Join CZW as we determine who is truly the Best of the Best. This tournament has launched the careers of wrestling greats like Sonjay Dutt, Sami Callihan and Chris Hero. Who will walk away with the trophy and title ‘Best of the Best’? Here’s your competitors for this years tournament… AAW does not realize the indies are dead and are running shows and stuff. They just ran a week or so ago https://twitter.com/AAWPro/status/1107128993290088451 https://twitter.com/AAWPro/status/1108888038644596737 https://twitter.com/Beezzzzy/status/1108746030311448577 People in Chicago love em even though it's an indie so they are dead. Even though ISW MS died and came back from the dead again (and maybe have died again who knows) Black Label Pro has kind of taken over the mantle that IWA MS used to have in the midwest. They will also have a show on Mania weekend but their next regular show: https://twitter.com/BLabelPro/status/1108780168380907525 https://twitter.com/BLabelPro/status/1108495835631964161 If you are in the Northwest you've got DEFY https://www.defywrestling.com/ They bring in a lot of talent and I've heard the shows are good. But they are dead. Next full Defy show is April 13th in Portland. Only thing they announced on their site was Jimmy Havoc. Now indie wrestling might be dead but you know what's not dead? DEATH MATCHES AND PRODUCE SHOWS! That's right it's G C loving W! Game Changer Wrestling is changing the game! They've got a million Mania weekend shows from Spring Break to Bloodsport (should be illegal to call a show Bloodsport and not run a tournament) to the Orange Cassidy produce show which is replacing NOVA. GCW's champion is Nick Gage and their signature events are the Joey Janela shows and TOURNAMENT OF SURVIVAL! Hopefully once Mania Weekend is over we will get news about Tournament of Survival. Each one has been great and last year they drew 1,000+. They've run some really good shows lately and are worth checking out. If you want to watch a bunch of indie wrestling there is https://independentwrestling.tv/ But it's all dead. If you want to talk about the Mania weekend cards go here: https://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3882572 MassRafTer fucked around with this message at 02:00 on Mar 22, 2019 |

Now that NOVA is dead the official promotion of the nation’s capital is FLYING V FIGHTS which has run one show, in a black box theatre with lasers

Their shows are generally fun, and they are having a crab-eating benefit for their lead trainer who was just diagnosed with cancer. Velveteen Dream and Lio Rush both came out of there.

Can add that CWF Mid-Atlantic is dead since the only heartbeat left after they fired their booker and the technical director quit was the never-ending title run of Trevor Lee who finally made it to NXT. I haven't been following PWX but they still seem to be doing well.

so the British indies are dying as well, as Progress is p much a subsidiary of the WWE, and ICW is...well idk if it's monetarily linked to the Fed but it's not that good these days. I'd do an effortpost about Discovery Wrestling (my local indie in Scotland), but that's gone on hiatus until next October (b/c the Scottish indies are dying) and they only ever did, like, one show every 1.5 months before then tbh when I get more into the Berlin wrestling scene I might end up doing an effortpost about GWF since they kinda rule + have a lot of cool indie European talent, but for now I can only say: rip in peace Western indie wrestling, late capitalism was always doomed to catch up with you eventually Venomous fucked around with this message at 12:28 on Mar 22, 2019 |

AIW is still going perhaps too strongly for their own good. After losing their venue late last year they didn't do anything in January, but then came back with like ten shows announced from February and May to check out new venues and the audiences each can get. Huge numbers of people who are now in WWE spent a lot of time in AIW (Shayna Baszler is still women's champion somehow) but as they've all been getting signed the shows have started to focus more on the AIW students, who I think are all pretty good.

My local indie International Wrestling Cartel does pretty well and has a good mix of local and more well known workers that pop in and out. (Gresham vs David Starr from last year's Super Indy 16 tourney was my personal MOTY that few saw) Know the owner and he's a nice guy, shame he works for the MIC with his job that involves the Navy

I kept bitching at Drew to run more Megabus-able shows on Twitter, and he did it, and now I feel obliged to take the long trek up from NYC (which I really thought was an hour shorter when I was complaining, but oh well). Gonna go to a museum or the Pride parade or something Saturday and see Boston Common and poo poo Sunday morning, I reckon. NienNunb posted:If you regularly watch Progress (which isn’t an indie) you are a bad person. I dunno, I don't think supporting a fed-linked indie is inherently that awful at this point. Of course, the only decent indie that runs NYC is Evolve, so I sort of had to make my peace with it (and I certainly feel better supporting them than, like, ROH). Also RevPro seems to totally rule, though I guess their TV show wasn't very good. Hope they're doing alright, I know the NJPW shows sell out and the Cockpit shows I've been to were a blast.
