They're seriously aggravating because you have to kill every single one as well so if you pop 3 void zones then you've got a mountain of dudes all over the map to kill before you can access any of them.

...and I don't know if it's been patched yet but they're pretty liberal with where they're allowed to drop in. I find them over the altar and occasionally punk me even when I spawn in sometimes.

I feel like the last patch made them somewhat better. At least, since that dropped I haven't spawned in the middle of three overlapping ones again. I also haven't seen a case since then where the last stupid void enemy disappears off the map preventing you from finishing the seeds. But I've also been playing a lot of sacrifice runs recently, so it might just be the lowered spawning chance with sacrifice that I'm seeing and they haven't fixed anything.

Drones at the very least shouldn't take damage from the void. You go drone heavy and you will regret it if you jump into one of those levels.

The damage zone outside of active void bubbles during the pre-Voidling level is just the most pointless and obnoxious poo poo. Pairs so well with enemies that force you to not occupy a certain area of space or else instantly die.

kill them quickly with your high damage skills? Grandparents look kinda scary but theyve never been an issue for me

Solanumai

It's shrine maiden, not shrine maid!
For Loader at least you shouldn't have problems either dashing through with a few max charge punches or just pounding on it until you have to grapple away. The grapple is a get out of jail free card for those annoying gravity wells it throws, too. If he starts doing the big AOE just break line of sight.

Grandparents are almost never a problem unless like three of them are sitting right next to each other.

Grandparents will also sometimes throw rocks at you and if you take one to the dome it can just end you...but usually that requires you to be really low mobility, and within their line of sight for an extended period of time, and their AI randomly deciding to do it instead of spamming orbs or the sun nuke.

aniviron

The real most dangerous grandparent attack is the gravity bubble. That poo poo sends me over map edges so often on runs where I just haven't lucked into enough mobility items, and the fall damage takes me to 1hp, which is invariably lethal soon after.

I bounced off this game a year or so ago and actually returned it, but picked it up with DLC on sale this weekend and have put 10 runs in. Got my first clear last night with railgunner, and boy howdy when this game clicks it CLICKS.

Hardly a god run, but I stacked 5 crowbars, a laser pointer, 3 leech seeds, 2 ukulele, 2 gascans, and a bunch of other random crap. Fukkin SLAPPED. As long as I'm hitting shots I'm winning, so just clench that rear end in a top hat, fall into the rythm, and exercise those years of Counterstrike experience clicking on heads.

Went into final boss with 4 elixers and used them all, so that was close, but pulled it out.

so how soon until the underage piss wizard is added as a playable character? That's what the Gearbox guy is known for, right? A weird obsession with magic and a USB stick with potentially underage piss porn left at a Medieval Times by accident?

So if I'm understanding the situation they sold the entire RoR IP to gearbox? It sold 4 million copies, they must have made a lot of money I guess.

How can one blame them for it? Seeing how ROR's development cycle ended, I don't think it's surprising to hear that hopoo are pretty done; atches slowed down, a lot of the late patches and updates felt half-baked. But it's the nature of early access, they had to put something out. And I feel for them too, it's hard to do a creative job if you're burned out. I don't think it's wrong to prefer seeing what someone else does with your creation than letting it die.

I was very bummed hearing about this as someone who discovered ROR2 late and loved just how arcade/arena shooter it could get in terms of speed, but if the creators are actually creatively exhausted with the universe then by all means, get that bag. gently caress Gearbox, but I'm glad Hopoo is getting paid and leaving on their own terms.

realistically gearbox probably approached them in the first place, maybe, and gave a decent offer. would have been dumb to turn it down and shop around for someone else if they were looking to offload it and move on. i'm glad they got their bag, at least. we still have ror2 to play, if we want.

Boss, if they make us find seven lost crystals, I'm quitting.

I'm kind of annoyed that they didn't say anything about being essentially done completely with ROR both as a game and as a franchise until they were bought out, and it was only actually said in a Discord message I had to read here. I had been looking forward to some sort of reveal for new content, maybe a ROR3, within the next couple of years, so now I'm just bummed out. Like, did they indicate that SOTV was the final content for ROR2 at any point otherwise?

Never seemed like the final update to me and I don't recall any messages regarding it being so.

The quietness from the devs after the DLC kinda gave me the vibe things were done, but maybe that's just me.

The rather large roster of the first game gave me hopes there'd be more characters for this one, but I suppose that's what mod support is for.

Yeah, I guess I'm tentatively in favor of RoR2 getting more content even if it's not gonna be helmed by the original guys - god knows SotV was janky as hell, anyways. A bit weird that they had dropped it, since last I heard from the Steam news updates they had plans for a lot more DLCs of various kinds, but I guess they just felt burned out, which is valid. I'd love for some *official* mod support, though, Steam Workshop and all, and Gearbox... doesn't do that very much?

Boss, if they make us find seven lost crystals, I'm quitting.

The pinned tweet for Risk of Rain's Twitter still says "the first expansion for ROR2". Maybe I'm petty to harp on it but it's just very annoying that they must have at some point realized they used up all their creative juices and desire to continue with ROR2 with SOTV and that we wouldn't be seeing any more ROR content from them at ALL, but they still haven't actually properly said anything about the future of the game/franchise except that Gearbox owns it. Unless they really are just banking on Gearbox being the ones to make new content for ROR2, in which case my interest is barely one degree above room temperature.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PivWxDUHlhw

Hopoo will be developing Risk of Rain Returns while Gearbox will publish. Perhaps Hopoo wants to go back to 2D?

Also the post/video re-iterates how they sold the IP to Gearbox and Gearbox will also be developing more titles for the series.

I found this quote hilarious...

quote:

Our Risk of Rain 2 co-developer, Gearbox, created some of the most well-received content in the Survivors of the Void Expansion such as the stages like Aphelian Sanctuary and Siphoned Forest. They also made some of the coolest enemies in the game like Void Jailers.
Yes. Certainly well received.

I hope they integrate some of the changes from the first Starstorm. The store page lists 15 characters, the original had 12, and in the trailer we can see artificer. I also hope they make it on Unity, which instantly gives it Bepinex support for modding.
Overall, somewhat surprising, but the changes in the graphics alone make this interesting. We'll see.
