there is a rule against spamming but imo except in really extreme cases bumping old threads shouldn't count and can in fact be a fun way to remember things from the past. if a bumped thread is uninteresting it will die again on its own, but if it isn't bad then people can have fun posting in it and that's the whole point of posting

making threads is good, posting in different threads is good, anything to get people to poke their head up from 5000-page megathreads is a positive if you ask me, and I'll be honest I don't really get why some mods and some posters have strong feelings about people posting "bump" once in a while
