The 2019 draft is this week, so no better time to review how your team drafted in 2016. They say it takes 3 years to truly judge a draft class, so here we go!

2016 Cincinnati Bengals draft class

William Jackson III, CB, Houston

World-class. Great CB who would be written about more in a bigger market. Makes QBs throw to the other side of the field often. Tastes sweeter because while we didn't really need another CB (though turns out, we did!), we grabbed him knowing full well the Steelers were going to pick him with the very next pick and forced them to pick a bust instead. Grade: A

Tyler Boyd, WR, Pittsburgh

At first seemed not great. A lot of people blamed it on coaching not being great/refusing to play rookies, but turns out Boyd was just lazy at first. He got benched and turned it around, worked hard to be a good weapon. News came out that some of the coaching staff really hated him/wanted him traded, but those staff members were fired and Boyd gave a 1,000+ yard season last year. Grade: B

Nick Vigil, MLB, Utah State

A big "who?" when first drafted, and is now the center of the defense and the only good linebacker in Cincy. Slightly injury-prone, but overall good and the only modern/speedy on staff. Grade: B

Andrew Billings DT Baylor

Guy that fell to everyone's surprise and the Bengals nabbed in the fourth. Injured his first year, gotten better each year and is primarily a run-stuffer. He's fine. Grade: B-

Christian Westerman, G, Arizona State

Back-up left guard. Bengals fans want him to start at RG but couldn't beat Alex Redmond (starter, sucks) or Trey Hopkins (back-up RG, decent). Bengals recently signed John Miller from the Bills so we'll see if he even makes the roster. Grade: D+

Cody Core, WR, Ole Miss

Not good at all. Special teams maven. Had to take meaningful snaps due to injuries and can't catch poo poo. Was once trusted with an end of game 4th down pass. You can guess how it went. Grade: D

Clayton Fejedelem, S, Illinois

Special teams captain and back-up safety/occasional third-down linebacker. Won a game for the Bengals last year with a TD fumble recovery. For the 7th round, exactly what you hope for. Grade: B

OVERALL:

Such a good draft for the Bengals, which they needed after two HORRIBLE drafts in a row. Many of these players will receive well-deserved extensions and will be long time Bengals. Exactly what you hope for.

2016 Patriots

2-60 Cyrus Jones CB - Got the yips his rookie year as a returner, fumbling a bunch of times, then tore his ACL in 2017 and never made it out of 2018's camp. Ended up in Baltimore. D

3-78 Joe Thuney G - A solidly good guard who's started every game for the last 3 seasons. Exactly what you'd hope for from a 3rd rounder. A

3-91 Jacoby Brissett QB - A competent bottom third of the league starter or good backup. Traded to the Colts for Phillip Dorsett. C

3-96 Vincent Valentine DT - Backup his rookie year, injured his second, bounced around the league's practice squads last year before eating some snaps in december for the Cardinals D

4-112 Malcolm Mitchell WR - A WR drafted by the Patriots who showed some promise, had an awesome 4th quarter against the Falcons in the Superbowl then got injured and could never get healthy. Realistically this should be a C-/D kind of grade, but I mean... 6/7 for 70 yards coming almost entirely in the 4th with a bunch of first downs is worth a hell of a lot. Let's say C

6-208 Kamu Grugier-Hill LB - Got cut in camp, ended up as a roster filler on the Eagles (and spot Kicker in a game, neat). He's lasted 3 years, proving he can play in the league which from a 6th/7th round pick is never worth an F even if he did nothing for the Pats. D

6-214 Elandon Roberts LB - Beat out KGH for a roster spot his rookie year, and ended up a solid starting middle linebacker the last two years. In the 6th round, that's easily worth an A

6-221 Ted Karras G - A reasonable backup lineman for three years who has played acceptably in filling in for injuries a handful of times. Sure. C

7-225 Devin Lucien WR - Bounced around practice squads for three years, played some on the Memphis Express... D

Not the worst draft, and a good guard and good linebacker are some real meat and potatoes level snaps, but definitely nothing special.

i agree with the god damned original poster except for two of the b grades that were given out. i badly want to change the seventh round grade for clayton fejedelem to a B+ and the second round grade to a B+ as well because tyler boyd is bout dat. Cincinnati Bengals!

STRIKE!
2016 Fightin' Seattle Seahawks

1-31 Germain Ifedi OT - He's been a starter at RT but also garbage. Always getting penalties. Looked like an absolute bust but then, surprise, when the Seahawks fired Tom Cable and got an OL coach who was not Tom Cable, he immediately showed improvement. He's still bad, but showed a lot of improvement, idk we'll see how he looks this year. C

2-49 Jarran Reed DT - An incredible DT with a high ceiling and has improved every year. He had 10.5 loving sacks last year on a DL with only 3 good players. STUD A

3-90 C.J. Prosise RB - A high upside pass-catching RB that has gone on injured reserve for 2017 and 2018. He has shown flashes of being a valuable rotational player but he's always injured. D

3-94 Nick Vannett TE - He's solid at blocking and surprisingly solid as a receiver. He's a decent backup right now, with the potential to be a solid starter. That's valuable for a 3rd rounder. Has had some minor injury issues. B

3-97 Reese Odhiambo OG - He was bad and then waived in 2018. Think about how bad you have to be to not be depth for the Seahawks OL. F

5-147 Quinton Jefferson DE - He was bad, then waived, went to the Rams, now he's back with the Seahawks. With that said, there is like, some potential there. You probably remember him as the player that tried to climb into the Jacksonville stands to attack the fans after they threw drinks on him. D

5-171 Alex Collins RB - He was meh and then waived when Seattle had a crowded back field roster. F

6-215 Joey Hunt C - Nothing of note. Undersized Center. Still on the team, started 3 games due to injuries to other players. An okay backup is great for a 6th round pick. B

7-243 Kenny Lawler WR - Bounced around practice squads, now plays in the CFL. He didn't pan out obviously but it's the 7th round and I like that they gambled on this type of athletic prospect. D

7-247 Zac Brooks RB - Did nothing of note, immediately waived in 2016, bounced around, retired after 1 year. F

Overall: B+

Two solid backups with high-upside
Two mediocre backup with some upside
One bad OL starter, but showed a lot of improvement this last season due to a new OL coach
*AND* JARRAN loving REED. A+ Starter. Breakout year in 2018. If he keeps it up he will be one of the best DTs in the NFL

If one of those backups grows into a solid starter then this is a great draft class.

e: I love jarran reed

2016 Cleveland Browns

Round 1, Pick 2: Carson Wentz, QB - Traded to Philly (along with some low round picks) for Corey Coleman, Shon Coleman, Ricardo Lewis, Jordan Payton, DeShone Kizer, Jabrill Peppers, and Denzel Ward. Grade: F

Round 1, Pick 15: Corey Coleman, WR - The only time you will ever see Corey Coleman in NFL highlights is him dropping the pass that sealed 0-16. Could have had Carson Wentz.Grade: F, although the 2020 7th rounder we got for him might become something?

Round 2, Pick 32: Emmanuel Ogbah, DE - He was able to contribute, and then was traded for a safety. Grade: C

Round 3, Pick 65: Carl Nassib, DE - Was cut before last season. Grade: F

Round 3, Pick 76: Shon Coleman, OT - Was traded for a 7th round pick before last season. Grade: F

Round 3, Pick 93: Cody Kessler, QB - Hahahaha remember when we started like 84 QBs in one season? Grade: F

Round 4, Pick 99: Joe Schobert, LB - An actual good pick and a regular starter. Good job! Grade: A

Round 4, Pick 114: Ricardo Louis, WR - Played some, had flashes of being good, was cut due to the sheer quality of WR after missing a year to injury. Grade: D

Round 4, Pick 129: Derrick Kindred, S - Got to play a bunch during the 0-16 season, a lot less during last season, was cut. Grade: D

Round 4, Pick 138: Seth DeValve, TE - Didn't really play much, but rules. Grade: A

Round 5, Pick 154: Jordan Payton, WR - Did drugs, got cut. Grade: F

Round 5, Pick 168: Spencer Drango, OT - Played after Bitonio got hurt, played after Joe Thomas got hurt, was not particularly passable. Lasted two seasons though! Grade: C

Round 5, Pick 172: Rashard Higgins, WR - Looking like he could be a great option, but might not have the chances with the WR depth the Browns currently have, still, very solidly still on the team. Grade: A

Round 5, Pick 173: Trey Caldwell, CB - Spent approximately 11 days of football on the roster. Grade: D

Round 7, Pick 250: Scooby Wright, LB - Didn't make the team. That said, late 7th round pick. Grade: D

Overall: Higgins and Schobert are good, but when you start with the #2 pick in the draft in a draft with multiple great QB prospects and end up with your best pick being an acceptable NFL starting linebacker, that can't be anything but a failure. Grade: F

You're all garbage, back up the truck BACK IT UP!
Cleveland Browns

1-15 Corey Coleman Also the teams record that year. Showed a little promise as a rookie but completely broke in his 2nd year. Cut last preseason and bounced around a fistful of teams F

2-32 Emmanuel Ogbah Despite being hyped every offseason he's never eclipsed 5.5 sacks with 12.5 on his career. Scrapped to the Chiefs for some safety. Might be an ok rotational guy D

3-65 Carl Nassib Drafted for being a 6'7 DE. Never did much in Cleveland and was cut. Tampa picked him up and he racked up 6.5 across from JPP last season maybe finding a home. You might know him as the guy giving investment advice on Hard Knocks C

3-93 Shon Coleman After letting Mitchell Schwartz walk they had to try to fill the hole at tackle. Made starter in 2017 sucked, cut in 2018 F

3-93 Cody Kessler "trust me on this guy" - Hue Jackson when asked about drafting Kessler. Traded to the Jags for a 7th F

4-99 Joe Schobert Sashi's first good pick that will actually get paid starter money. Broke out under Greg Williams in 2017 making the pro bowl. Solid starting MLB. A

4-114 Ricardo Louis Athletic as gently caress receiver with bad hands. Didn't make a 2018 roster D

4-129 Derrick Kindred Safety and special teamer. Solid enough at his job but not a regular starter C

4-138 Seth Devalve Pass catching tight end from the Ivy League. Not impressive and was firmly eclipsed by Njoku by the end of 2017. Most notable for being the first white kneeler. C

5-154 Jordan Payton Some receiver. 1 catch his entire career and didn't make the winless roster. F

5-168 Spencer Drago Drafted with hopes he'd be a tackle. Played LT after Thomas went down and sucked mightily. Cut in 2018 F

5-172 Rashard Higgins Had kind of a break out year with Baker in 2018 as an ok deep threat. Got an original round tender and may end up sticking around as a depth receiver. C

5-173 Trey Caldwell to lovely to break the winless 2017 roster. F

7-250 Scooby Wright College hall of famer. First of Sashi's draft picks to get fully cut for depth when the QB's started dying. Arizona picked him up for a couple years. Last I saw he was in the AAF :rip: D

Overall Grade: F
1 starter and a few rotational guys. A loving disaster of a draft.

a neat cape

Aw hunny, these came out GREAT!
2016 San Diego Chargers

Round 1, Pick 3: Joey Bosa, DE - Fantastic team altering player. Would draft again. Only reason it isn't an A+ is because he's missed some games because of health. A

Round 2, Pick 35: Hunter Henry, TE - Team's #1 TE, last year would have been a coming out party but he tore his ACL in May. Firmly locked in as one of Philip's top weapons. A

Round 3, Pick 66: Max Tuerk, C - Never saw the field. Out of the league. F

Round 4, Pick 102: Joshua Perry, ILB - Lasted 2 years, not great. Out of the league. D

Round 5, Pick 175: Jatavis Brown, OLB - A rotation linebacker, pretty great value here. Was definitely missed last year in the playoffs. C+

Round 6, Pick 179 - Drew Kaser, P - Decent punter. Was cut last year when the Chargers were going through kicker woes. I don't think he signed anywhere else. C-

Round 6, Pick 198 - Derek Watt, FB - Starting FB, pretty decent out of the backfield and a good blocker. Has a really good rapport with Melvin Gordon. Great value here. B+

Round 7, Pick 224 - Donovan Clark, G - I have no idea who this is

Overall: A - Telesco's strong drafting continues. Bosa, Henry, Brown, and Watt are all strong contributors. Tuerk was a risk and didn't pay off, and I still have no idea why Kaser was cut.

WE ALL KNOW WHAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN
New York Jets

Ohhh boy, this is going to be fun.

1-20: Darron Lee, LB, Ohio State - Drafted primarily for his athleticism, he's played MLB in the Jets 3-4 scheme. He's had his moments, and improved last year before getting a PED suspension for the last 4 games, but has mostly been a disappointment. He can play very well in coverage, but has struggled to match up physically against blockers given his size (6-1, 232), which has resulted in major issues playing against the run. He'll probably get traded somewhere by Thursday for a 4th or 5th round pick. He could be rejuvenated playing in a 4-3, though. Grade: C-

2-51: Christian Hackenberg, QB, Penn State - What hasn't already been said about Hack? This could be the dumbest pick in the history of football. The Jets wasted a second round pick on a QB that most scouts (literally) thought was undraftable. He never played an NFL snap, and looked horrendous in his preseason appearances. He's now washed out of the NFL and seemed destined to wash out of the AAF before the league folded. This pick also caused the Jets to pass on Deshaun Watson and Patrick Mahomes in 2017. It's impossible to overstate how much of a disaster and an embarrassment this pick was. Grade: F, and if I could give an even lower grade I would, gently caress this pick

3-83: Jordan Jenkins, OLB, Georgia - Has turned in to a pretty decent pass rusher, notching 7.5 sacks last year. Plays like a poor man's Calvin Pace, which is not meant to be a criticism. Good pick in the 3rd round. Grade: B+

4-118: Juston Burris, CB, NC State - Strong, physical press corner that they hoped would develop under Todd Bowles. Unfortunately, his athleticism was lacking and he never found a way into regular snaps. He's on the Browns now. Grade: D

5-158: Brandon Shell, T, South Carolina - Has started 29 games at RT and has played pretty well. Good pick here in the 5th round. Grade: A

7-235: Lac Edwards, P, Sam Houston St. - He's pretty good at punting footballs, which is cool. However, he's also a punter, so whatever. Grade: C+

7-241: Charone Peake, WR, Clemson - I actually thought the Jets got pretty good value with this pick at the time, and thought Peake could turn into a decent depth WR. Peake has never made a difference as a WR, but has turned into a pretty good special teams player, and is still on the team, which is really the most you can ask for from a 7th rounder. Grade: B

Overall Grade: C-/D+

The Jets actually had some decent picks in this draft, and landed solid depth pieces in Jenkins and Shell. However, the Hackenberg pick (rightly) overshadows everything else, and on its own makes this draft class a failure.

Cardinals

1-29 Robert Nkemdiche - Supposed to be the second coming of darnell dockett, isn't. Finally got some sacks this year though, is he going to be a late bloomer or just useless?
F

2-61 traded for Chandler Jones
A+

3-92 Brandon Williams - Athletic CB the cardinals thought they could teach, apparently they can't.
D

4-128 Evan Boehm - prospect center/guard. not great but he'll probably stick around the league as a backup guard which is frustrating given the cardinals' usual o-line woes.
C

5-167 Marqui Christian - box safety that went to the rams. great.
C

5-170 Cole Toner - guard played 2 games for us
C

6-205 Harlan Miller - rangy safety who managed to stick around the team until this year
B

7-251 traded for matt barkley - who cares but also lol

Overall probably a D. Chandler jones owns but the big issue is that they spent 5 picks on OL/CB and got nothing out of it.

Buccaneers

Ah yes, the Robert Aguayo draft.

R1: Vernon Hargreaves - Been pretty meh so far. Missed plenty of time. Might have been a problem of scheme, played best in the slot. Be curious to see how does as a press corner under Bowles. - C
R2: Noah Spence - Never produced in a game and always hurt. F
R2: ROBERTO AGUAYO - lol F
R4: Ryan Smith - Special teams ace, below average corner. C
R5: Caleb Benenoch - Probably the worst starting RG in the league. D
R6: Devante Bond - Depth LB/most ST player. D
R6: Dan Vitale - Didn't make the original 53. Think he ended up in Cleveland or NE for a bit. F

I'd say this is easily the worst draft by Jason Licht.

1st - Vernon Butler DT - Worthless. Averaging just under a tackle a game. Rarely plays. Might be one of those situations where it's cheaper to keep him on the team. Doesn't seem to give a poo poo. Didn't make sense when he was draft. F

2nd - James Bradberry DB - He's a good, solid all around corner. Can't complain B

3rd - Daryl Worley DB - Total piece of poo poo. Traded to the Eagles for Torrey Smith, who then cut him after he got into an altercation with the police. Went to the Raiders, had one good game, failed a drug test, so Gruden put a 2nd round tag on him. D

5th - Zach Sanchez DB - Undersized, outmatched, outgunned DB with no position in the NFL. Made 9 tackles in two years before washing out. Currently with the San Antonio Commanders. Having players from the fifth wash out is young thing, but drafting players who can't even physically hold up is another F

7th Beau Sandland TE - typical big, plodding special teams dude. Technically a tight end. On his third team. C

Just an awful, awful draft. Tripled down on DB and got one good player. Might honestly be the worst first round pick in Panthers history as far as production goes; even Rae Carruth was 2nd team all rookie. Rashard Andersen is worse because he was selling heroin while on the team then slipped while hitting a tackling sled and broke his neck.

I would preface this by saying we were picking second to last.

Vernon Butler was a wasted pick and a healthy scratch in some games, but he ended up making the roster and providing depth so I’d give him a D. On another team he is a clear D, but we drafted him despite having Short and Star.

James Bradberry has been more than capable as a late second rounder. He regularly shadows the top WRs in the NFL on a weekly basis. Julio Jones, Michael Thomas, and Mike Evans are hands down the toughest trio of #1s in a division and Bradberry has shut them down as best as you could expect. He is an A- at worst.

2016 Seattle Seahawks

1-31 Germain Ifedi OT - He's been a starter at RT but also garbage. stealing this word for word first sentence and gonna steal the grade. Frustrating player who shows potential at mostly run blocking b.c he is admittedly a huge boy. Instantly improved with cable gone. I would actually pick up his 5th year option due to the tackle market being hosed up. I think he can improve to avg at pass blocking and actually be a beast in run blocking with another year of actual coaching C

2-49 Jarran Reed DT - exploded this year to get 10.5 sacks. Would keep him over frank clark if I had to pick. plz extend front office. A +

3-90 C.J. Prosise RB - cool idea kind of hybrid wr/rb player who was actually cool and good when he played (like all 3 games). Best remembered for potential lost and being a huge contributor to that dope hawks pats game on SNF. He is still on the team after getting cut. Maybe this year is the year he drinks enough milk to play D + + is due to injury which is hard to predict

3-94 Nick Vannett TE - contributor at TE. could be a starter this year. still on the team. decidedly not bad but not great which is pretty good for 3rd round B

3-97 Reese Odhiambo OG - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pEz_PdWjuKI F

5-147 Quinton Jefferson DE - not great but back on the team. hanging around which is pretty alright for 5th round. not a contributor D

5-171 Alex Collins RB - had a decent season with the ravens couldnt beat out any of the other RBs on the roster. F

6-215 Joey Hunt C - back up center. capable of starting in a pinch. not big enough to be perm starter but knows system and I doesnt poo poo self while on the field. for 6th round I give good marks B+

7-243 Kenny Lawler WR - 7th round WR. Shooting darts based on body size which I am a-ok with. Hard to grade a 7th rounder but take shots at the end of the draft is cool with me C

7-247 Zac Brooks RB - No idea who the gently caress this is but I will apply my 7th rounder policy C

Overall: B+

I concur with my seahawks friend above me. B+ for several contributors and a break out player. Wish we did not waste a 3rd on odhiambo but I assume he was a cable pick

1-21: Will Fuller V - If he's not injured, he can pull off a 75-yard touchdown pass from Deshaun Watson with ease. If he's not injured. B+

2-41. Reggie Ragland ILB - was hurt his entire rookie season with Rex, became a scheme casualty once McDermott took over. The team was able to recoup some value by trading him to KC for a fourth before he even played a single regular season snap. D-

3-80. Adolphus Washington DT - subpar depth guy. Literally had a play or two, but he was cut and can't even remain on other team's practice squads. D

4-139. Cardale Jones QB - turned out the Bills couldn't develop him. Got like a 6th or a 7th for him. D

6-192. Kolby Listenbee WR did nothing, got hurt a lot, got cut, has done nothing with other teams since. F

Miami Dolphins

1.13- LT Laremy Tunsil- He hasn't quite lived up to his billing yet, but he's got individual games that are outstanding(notably vs. Mack and Clowney) and I think it seems pretty likely he might be one of those guys who ends up as an elite pass protector but mediocre run blocker. The Dolphins sort of set back his development by having him learn and play Left Guard as a rookie, and probably should have had a faltering Branden Albert move back inside. The weed stuff, and the underlying personal drama involved hasn't been an issue as of yet. A-

2.38 CB Xavien Howard- He broke out December 2017, and generated 11 interceptions in basically a full season since then. He's had some nice coverage performances, but he's more of a turnover machine than a shut-down corner at this point. Has had some lingering knee issues. A

3.73 RB Kenyan Drake- Had what looked like a breakout in the 2nd half of 2017, but Adam Gase doesn't really seem to give a poo poo about the running game beyond it's ability to keep the offense on schedule for his absolutely genius blown protection package/punt combo on 3rd down. He seems to generate big plays in all phases of the ball whenever he gets a solid workload, but it's unclear exactly where he'll end up. B+

3.86 WR Leonte Carroo- They traded their next year's 3rd, 4th, and that year's 6th to get him and he barely saw the field and he might be out of football as of this off-season. WR Coach Shawn Jefferson apparently fell in love with him and banged the table for him F-

6.186 WR Jakeem Grant- He's another guy that almost certainly hasn't gotten the workload his performance has suggested he should. Incredibly fast, dynamic, and breaks a shocking amount of tackles at 5'7" 186, but hasn't been on the field for more than 400 something offensive snaps over his 2nd and 3rd year. He's got a pretty good highlight reel, and good efficiency metrics over that time period but Gase hadn't really come close to exploring how much of a workload he can hold up to at his size. A(Especially considering the round)

6.204 S Jordan Lucas- I had to check if he saw the field with the Dolphins. Barely, got some snaps with KC last year-

7.223 QB Brandon Doughty- Bad preseason QB, on Arizona's roster now. -

7.231 TE Thomas Duarte- 6'2" 240 TE who was basically an oversized slot receiver. Didn't ever see the field in the regular season, was for some reason almost exclusively an in-line TE in the preseason. On the Panthers roster now-

Overall- This is the first draft current Dolphins GM and team-runner Chris Grier had full control over, and it's pretty drat good. He said this year that getting three starters in a draft is his goal for a draft, and this one has the possibility of generating three blue chip guys A

Lawson was hurt his rookie year, so there's definitely reason for optimism there. It just never ceases to amaze me that we invested all of this draft capital into Rex Ryan's system, and that Rex probably had a lot of input into who we looked for, and basically every last pick was dog poo poo. And Lawson is doing much better in McDermott's scheme, essentially playing a position he wasn't even drafted for, so you can't even really give Whaley and Rex credit for that! We pissed literally an entire draft away.

Just because the Rams wasted all the picks they got from the RG3 trade doesn't make the trade a waste.

This is a thread for reviewing how a draft turned out. If you waste the picks from a trade then it means that the trade went poorly, even if it was a good trade at the time, just like how if you draft a player that was a good pick at the time that turns out to be garbage, it is a bad pick on review.

Philadelphia Eagles

Round 1.) Carson Wentz, QB - Franchise QB. Has shown durability issues as he doesn't protect his body very well (tough guy), has also shown MVP-level QB play in the past after a slow start to his career. He has some problems with mechanics and accuracy but he's obviously an above average starting NFL QB with the potential to be a true great. A

Round 3.) Issac Seumalo, G - Surprisingly decent guard, has done well plugging in for injuries and impressed me last season when he started for half of it. For a third round pick, A

Round 5a) Wendell Smallwood, RB - Smallwood is this weird fellow who looks like he could be great until you give him the ball and he gains 3 yards. I think he's pretty alright for a 5th round pick as he's still in the league as a legitimate contributor and there have been times that Eagles fans (not me) have felt he was "the guy". B

Round 5b.) Halapoulivaati Vaitai, OT - Big V has filled in all over the line since joining the team and while there are times I groan watching him try to block a legit player, this guy is a late 5th round pick that is able to at least hold his own at loving LT. A-

Round 6.) Blake Countess, CB - Cut before he ever played a snap for the Eagles. Looks like he's an ST guy for the Rams and given he's had two picks and a sack in four started games over the past 3 seasons, I feel this was a decent pick! A shame we didn't keep him around. C

Round 7a.) Jalen Mills, CB - We got this guy in the seventh drat round. You may have recently heard of turf hair's fight with an NBA player. I don't think he's a great CB but he's had some very strong games and he's overall decent. A first stringer CB in the 7th round. God drat. Amusing sidenote: he was projected as a safety. A+

Round 7b.) Alex McCallister, DE - Never played a down for the Eagles. We cut him and he signed on to the Skins practice squad who then, in turn, cut him. Oh well. D

Round 7c.) Joe Walker, LB - I mean, he played LB for us for a little while and still has an NFL job with the Cardinals after we threw him on the practice squad! He's by no means good but we got something out of him. C

Overall, I'd give this draft an A+ for getting a franchise QB and four other starters, hitting on every pick through the 5th round and this without a 2nd round pick. I think it would be fair to point to this draft as the sole reason the Eagles have a ring. It's rare to get this much value out of one draft.

2-60 Cyrus Jones CB - What Kalli said, but I'll add that he was actively hostile to the team's win chances every moment he was on the field, so downgrade to a pure Fffffffff

3-78 Joe Thuney G - Just a really solid guard, great value where he was taken, no complaints. A

3-91 Jacoby Brissett QB - Decent backup guy, but that's it. About what you'd expect where he was drafted. C+

3-96 Vincent Valentine DT - Literally a huge nothing. F

4-112 Malcolm Mitchell WR - Man, this is hard to grade. He was a genuinely good wide receiver drafted by Bill Belichick, which basically means he was a unicorn. He had had some injury history in college, but nothing so bad you'd automatically assume he was going to explode into a pink mist after just 1 season. gently caress it, I'm just going to say C based on his 4th quarter in the Super Bowl.

6-208 Kamu Grugier-Hill LB - Who? D

6-214 Elandon Roberts LB - Decent starter for practically nothing, gotta give that an A

6-221 Ted Karras G - An :effort: depth guy from the trash rounds. C+

7-225 Devin Lucien WR - A huge nothing, but also cost almost nothing so ehhhhh D

1-9 Leonard Floyd, OLB. Light, injury prone speed rush specialist. Last season was the first time he'd played more than 12 games, and also the first one with another good rusher on the team. Underwhelming. 7 sacks first year, then went to 4.5 and 4.0 last year, which is really not good considering he has loving Akiem Hicks and KHALIL MACK to take attention away from him. Flat out hasn't developed but is probably adequate enough he gets a new contract C-.
2-56 Cody Whitehair, G/C Solid interior lineman, plays mainly center but I expect he goes back to guard. For bottom of the 2nd round that's pretty drat good. A
3-72 Jonathan Bullard, DT . 5 starts in 3 years. Depth I guess, would have liked more out of him. C
4-113 Nick Kwiatowski, ILB Quality backup that started a lot early in his career. 4th round and later that's all you can hope for. B-
4-124 Deon Bush , S Another quality backup, see above . B-
4-127 Deiondre' Hall, CB Has barely seen the field, left for Philly D
5-150 Jordan Howard, RB One of the best ball carriers in the league. One of 3 players with 3000 yards rushing since he entered the league (behind Zeke and Gurley, and higher yards/attempt than Gurley). Slow but great patience and vision. Unfairly maligned by fans and didn't fit well in new system with career lows but that's on the coach. Gonna miss him, he's off to better places in Philly. A+++
6-185 Deandre Houston-Carson, S Backup, I guess being on the roster is something. C
7-230 Daniel Braverman, WR 5'10, 185 white guy. Unparalleled grit, work ethic, toughness, character, blue collar lunchpail first in last out studies all the time never sleeps and is now with the cardinals A+

This is probably the best all around draft since 2003 for the Bears (2017 looks better but regression may happen). No HoFer or even perennial pro bowler like Hester or Forte, but solid starter at guard, a 5th round RB who kicked rear end, a bunch of depth at other positions. Floyd is definitely a disappointment but coming off the worst all time Bears 1st round pick Kevin White (in 2015) he's not that bad! A lot is still gonna depend on Floyd actually being better than replacement level, which I'm not convinced he will be.
Overall: B

Trent Baalke and Chip Kelley's 2016 49ers draft:

Round 1: Pick 7 - Oregon DL DeForest Buckner
Pro: 47 games, 200 tackles, 69 assists, 21 sacks, 6 PDs, 1 FF, 2 FR. 2016 PFWA all-rookie, 2018 pro bowl. Con: not an offensive lineman, the position of most need. Still, an excellent pick. A+

Round 1: Pick 28 (acquired via trade with the Kansas City Chiefs) - Stanford G Joshua Garnett
Pro: Seems like a decent backup guard, when he's healthy. Good rookie season, starting 11 games of 15 played. Con: hurt, missed all of 2017, aggrivated the knee in training camp, so only played 7 games/59 snaps last year. OL is the perennial position of need, and you can't really anticipate injuries like this, but given the 9ers gave up a 2nd, 4th, and 6th to the Chiefs to move up 9 slots to take him and they've only gotten 1.5 seasons of decent play in 3 years, you have to grade him down substantially. C-

Round 3: Pick 5 (68th overall) - Mississippi State CB Will Redmond
Drafted with an ACL tear, sent to IR, 2 seasons of zero play before being cut. Has spent time on the Chiefs and Packers rosters, putting in 5 games in 2018, for a career total of 1 solo tackle, I think just on special teams. Drafting ACL tears is a terrible strategy, doing it with your third pick is loving awful, and after wasting time on this guy for two years he wasn't even valuable enough to get something in trade for him. F-

Round 4: Pick 35 (133rd overall) – compensatory - LSU CB Rashard Robinson
Starting-quality CB in a position of need, did well under Kelly and better under Shanahan when healthy, but has not shown himself to be star quality yet. Pros: starting-quality CB, when he's healthy and not suspended; niners got decent trade value for him and he's still in the league as a nominal starter. Cons: injuries, off-field dumb drug poo poo, PED suspension. B-

Round 5: Pick 3 (142nd overall) – from San Diego - Appalachian State DL Ronald Blair III
38 games played, 2 as a starter, missing 10 games in 2017. 67 combined tackles, 24 QB hits, 10.5 sacks. Seems legit for a 5th round pick, a serviceable backup/rotational DL is no bad thing, and round 5 is a good spot to get him. B+
Note: Niners gave up 2015 first overall (SD draft Melvin Gordon) for 2015 1st(17), 2015 4th(117), and this pick. Those two other picks were Erik Armstead and Blake Bell. I'd rather have had Gordon than these three guys, no contest.

Round 5: Pick 6 (145th overall) - Georgia OL John Theus
Who? Played 4 games including 1 start, waived, claimed by panthers, never played, IR, waived, claimed by saints, IR, waived, claimed by titans may 2018, never played. Perhaps someday he will be an NFL quality player, but don't hold your breath. And he was rated pre-draft as a UDFA type pick, so Balke should have known better. F

Round 5: Pick 37 (174th overall) – compensatory - Ole Miss OL Fahn Cooper
Waived sept. 3rd. Signed by colts in 2017, attended training camp, cut before final roster. Wasted pick, F

Round 6: Pick 32 (207th overall) – from Denver - Louisiana Tech QB Jeff Driskel
Didn't make the final team. Waived Sept. 3rd, picked up by CIN, who have held him as their backup QB since. Started five games last year, kinda sucked (went 1-4, 90 passer rating.) If the 9ers had gotten any value for him he'd be a C, but since they dumped him to waivers it's an F.

Round 6: Pick 36 (211th overall) – compensatory - Florida RB Kelvin Taylor
Never played a regular season snap. Has been on the 9ers (cut Nov 28 2016), seahawks (signed and cut three times in 2016), Chiefs, Falcons, Browns. Perhaps some day he will be an NFL quality player, but don't hold your breath. F

Round 6: Pick 38 (213th overall) – compensatory - Michigan State WR Aaron Burbridge
A bottom-roster backup/special teams WR in 2016, played 16 games and started 3, apparently turning in good ST play although I can't say I recall it. On offense he managed 7 receptions on 16 targets averaging 5.5 yards and a fumble. Cut sept. 2018, practice squad october 2018, signed by Denver in January. For giving the niners some ST value and 88 receiving yards in two years of play, but no trade value, he is elevated to a generous C.

Round 7: Pick 28 (249th overall) - from Kansas City - Western Kentucky CB Prince Charles Iworah
Saw an NFL regular season pitch once in 2016. Since been a practice squad guy for niners, chiefs, redskins, and falcons, but currently unemployed. Was hurt for at least some of that time, I dunno. F

Overall: with credit for the no-brainer Buckner pick and solid Blair pick, and being generous about Rashard Robinson and Aaron Burbridge, this is still a prety miserable overall showing in which the niners with numerous areas of desperate need and numerous total busts. The Will Redmond pick was especially egregious given the team situation and the other options at 68th place. I give them a D, and that's being nice.

It's an F.

Baltimore Ravens

1.6: Ronnie Stanley, T: Widely groused about at the time by the fanbase for not being exciting, Stanley has gone on to be to prove himself a dependable, if not elite, left tackle, bringing stability to a position that had been in constant flux following the retirement of Jonathan Ogden. He play generally isn't mesmerizing, but since taking over the position the security of the left edge of the line has never been a major concern, and the only moments where he has failed is when the entire rest of the line does too. Very grateful that the team picked up his 5th year option, and will probably be locked up on a long-term deal sometime next offseason. A-

2.42: Kamalei Correa, OLB: One of the most baffling drafting decisions in recent history, Correa was a productive pass rusher who fans thought was going to serve as the basis for the pass rush following the departure of several key contributors, but ended up being inexplicably converted into an ILB (a position he had never played in his life) by the coaching staff for reasons that remain unclear. Naturally, it was an abject failure, and he was traded to the Tennessee Titans right before the start of the 2018 season. I don't hold any personal grudge against him, because what the coach staff asked of him was insane to begin with, but in terms of value to the team this exceeds Perriman and Elam in sheer uselessness relative to draft position. F-

3.70: Bronson Kaufusi, DE: Drafted old following Mormon missionary work, Kaufusi was meant to serve as the other half of the Raven's rookie pass rushers. He missed his rookie season with a broken ankle, and couldn't distinguish himself from the other linemen in the following training camp. He was waived in 2018 and spent the season on and off with the Jets. Bad luck played into this more than malice, but he didn't pan out quickly enough against a defensive front that became loaded with better prospects. D

4.104: Tavon Young, CB: The highest-paid nickle corner in the NFL, Young's play as earned every cent of his contract extension. The start of a long string of brilliant rookie CB draftees, he had a phenomenal rookie season that was tripped up by an ACL tear the following offseason. Filling the same role in 2018, he proved instrumental in locking down opposing slot receivers and allowing the Ravens to field the NFL's best pass defense. Will hopefully be a vital part of the defense for years to come. A+

4.107: Chris Moore, WR: Probably the best of the Ravens' late-round receiving projects from recent years, which isn't saying much. He's served as a competent if unspectacular 3rd or 4th option, and has generally never been given the chance to excel out of that. His main contribution has been special teams, where he has consistently made two or three game-changing plays a year in addition to a generally high baseline level of play. Given his shortening contract and the depleted roster depth this year, this is probably make or break time for him to prove that he actually has something. B-

4.130: Alex Lewis, G: How times change. Once looking like the future at Guard after filling in spectacularly for an injured Yanda his rookie season, he was lost for all of 2017 with a shoulder injury and came back hot garbage. He no longer has the force or technique to play the position well, and his regression has been one of the prime contributors to the Ravens' offensive line woes. Most of the grade here comes from the value he had for that 2016 team. It's possible that he finds a way to play well again, but I'm not holding my breath. C-

4.132: Willie Henry, DT: A solid d-line rotational piece, Henry has unfortunately been locked behind Brendan Williams and Michael Pierce for the starting position, and his starting contributions have been extremely limited. He was out on injured reserve in 2018, so hopefully he's able to step in and contribute this upcoming season. C

4.134: Kennith Dixon, RB: This guy owns. An extensive college scorer, he possess excellent instincts, an explosive first step, and an uncanny ability to always break out of the first tackle. The only limitation he has had is multiple injuries, which have kept his playing time to a minimum. Extremely destructive in the limited playing time he had with Lamar, it would not be surprising to see him enter 2019 as the definitive lead back. B+

5.156: Matt Judon, OLB: A small-school project afterthought at the time of the draft, Judon managed to outlast both of the passrushers drafted before him and managed to experience the patented Third Year Leap as part of the generic Ravens passrusher life cycle. Ideally his development will improve enough next year to justify actually keeping him, but in all likelihood is set to leave after another productive but not outstanding season for a comp pick. B

6.182: Keenan Reynolds, WR: A former Navy QB who the team tried and failed to teach how to be a wide receiver. Cut after his first year here, he's currently bouncing around practice squads. Not an unexpected turn of events for a late-round converted wide receiver, but still not a stellar outcome. D

6.209: Maurice Canady, S: A reserve defensive back who has seen limited snaps on and off the field the last three seasons in addition to special team work. A thankless position, and not fantastic, but he's managed to find utility, which is more than can be said for most 6th rounders. C+

Overall a good but not great draft that is marred by terrible decisions in rounds 2 and 3. It produced several good roleplayers, at least two of which should serve as staples of the franchise for the foreseeable future. The failure to hit reliably on pass rushers and interior linemen is a problem that has come to haunt the Ravens in the present day, but that's more of an issue across multiple drafts than this one alone. Would probably give an overall grade of B-, though that might be a bit generous on my part.

I agree with this and would say this was Telesco's best draft to this point. Bosa alone turned the Chargers d-line from a unit that was soft, weak and couldn't get after the QB to one of the best pass rush units in the league quickly. and Henry's gonna be one of the best all-around TEs in the league if his knees stop exploding. The Perry and Brown picks were understandable since T'eo was out the door and they needed LB help, etc. I'd say the only really bad whiff was Tuerk, but he never really got over tearing his knee up in college.

Honestly as bad as the actual 2016 season was (thanks McCoy!), this draft + the FA moves Telesco made are a big part of the foundation for why Lynn's teams have been relatively successful so far.
