I get teased by friends for liking this show as much as I do, but I love it and it rules. Really amped up to see what they do with the set up from last year. Angry teens and angry dads karate fighting and the stakes. Can't. Get. Higher.

The show isn't afraid to make fun of the source material but it also holds parts of it in a certain reverence. It's how you do a revival show. NBC is doing the same thing with Saved by the Bell and Punky Brewster and I'd be surprised if they're half as good as Cobra Kai.

The article says YouTube is getting out of scripted shows. Which is fine. I can't think of a single YouTube Red show I've ever heard of other than Cobra Kai. It does beg the question though; how many decades before we get a Miyagi-Do spinoff of a bitter, hosed up Robbie teaching karate to government special-forces troops, and Kreese's long-lost grandson comes to snap him out of it?

Here is the most important info from the article. Sounds like we are going to be waiting a bit longer for S3 but at least it is going to find a much bigger audience. "Seasons 1 and 2 of the Karate Kid sequel series, starring Ralph Macchio and William Zabka, will premiere on Netflix this year, with an all-new third season to follow.” "While the deal with Netflix is for Cobra Kai only, I hear there have been conversations between Netflix and Sony TV about potentially expanding the franchise in the future with other Karate Kid series"
